The good old days of Lowther mentioned are long gone, but they are long gone at most events, drink driving, cost of living, hunting ban, terrier tail docking blame what we want but things have changed, there was no Hunts at Lowther last year because there was no hound show, this is rectified this year with the Central Fell Packs running a show.

Lowther organising committee said Lowther was finished 2 years ago, along come Country Fairs and are trying to rebuild it, I went last year and wasnt impressed, but they need time and support to get it back to near what it was,

The Terrier show wasnt just poor last year, it had been in decline for nearly 10 years, even with cheap tickets, it will take time and effort to rebuild, maybe some discount for entries would help, it is expensive if you just want to show terriers and lurchers, the Lurcher show was always fairly well attended even if expensive, but entries were free to show and good prizes given, but if we want a decent show we have to help by supporting it and help get it back on the list of good days out.

there are still great events docking has nothing to do with it it's down to people have got wise to gamfairs simple the lowther survived only because of the hounds and terriers and horse trail the latter. Moved. No great loss to them , the weather ended lowther , while its run in its present form it will not return to its former glory. Roll on rydal. And the scotish hound show.

Thing is, that now CF have got hold of it, it will be run as a purely commercial venture to rape as much money as possible out of people.

There's no prestige to winning a show that is run again the next day!

As Mally said, there's a proper show on that weekend and that's where I'll be, a show that takes class winners from loads of (mostly) independent shows up and down the country over the summer and puts them all against each other.

THAT is a show worth winning in my opinion (hard to believe but I do have them)

I was at a CF show last weekend, I went because it was MWTLC running the dog show and I try and support when I can.

It cost me £20 !! to get in to a car boot sale, if that is a gamefair these days then I'm a Chinaman, it was absolute wank, walked around it in 5 minutes.

Give your money and support to those who deserve and appreciate it.

EDRD

Chilli ............ there'll be a "last chicken in the shop" competition behind my vehicle at 2 pm on sunday if you'd care to join us, all entrants must be correctly depilated.

As long as there is no donkey chin on display .

Good turn out of Lurchers and Terriers today, spoke to Barry Todhunter, the hound show yesterday was very busy, they are going to expand it for next year and the horse driving trials will be back next year. Just need more varied main ring entertainment and its looking better.
