hily 380
its all down to the pension prividers not wanting to pay out to the baby boomers as there is to many of them reaching pensionable age at the same time. it was different when most of the baby boomers where earning from the age of 15 and paying tax.as for docters pensions its a fact of life some of us are paid more for our skills than others and like it or not the doctors are in the grip of the propergander machine and as long as joe public is taken a pop at them they are leaving the real badys alone RANT OVER to answer you post no one should have to work until the are over sixty as for 48k pension it takes me over three years to earn that sort of money so i could do very well on it .one other thing who gets the money when we don't reach retirment age and how many years will people be drawing the pension after they reach 68 or even 70 its seems the finance folk who provide the pension only want to do so if its a win win situation for them as it was in the past when lots of people died before they reached the magic 65 and they pocketed all the premiums. Ahh well all the talk about morals and being fair wont change owt as the song says money makes the world go arround Edited June 22, 2012 by hily
scothunter 12,609
At time when people are losing thier jobs, and taking cuts in wages. IMO they aren't exactly suffering to the extent of your average family in that kind of salary. They could have waited. I used to think they did a great job the local gp , maybe years ago that was the case. Nowadays all they see is a pound sign walking in to there surgery. Your also lucky if your there for 10 mins. "is there anything else I can help you with" is normally your cue that he wants you to f**k off! Lol

tegater 789
I have mixed feelings about Doctors, but for me this is about principles. Anybody who takes up whatever profession they choose to do, and signs a contract, and joins a pension scheme and maybe signs another contract, is entitled to what they have signed up for and for the money that they pay into it. I was never in a position to be a doctor, but maybe if I had a few more brain cells were studying is concerned, I might have been. It is OK to knock the so called pension schemes and payouts that people are on, but very often, they have payed vast amounts of money into it. Just because some people have never joined a pension scheme, or theirs only pays out 3% instead of 25% for example, doesnt mean that bigger pension schemes for others are wrong. I would love to have been on a decent scheme, but I know what I was signing up to when I signed my contract. To much jelousy from lazy f**kers for me!!

scothunter 12,609
I'm not saying they dont have a cause, only they aren't the only Ones being screwed over , and asked to work longer. Just think it will prob start a lot more strikes. And that's the last thing we need looking at the state of the economy. Just by take on it like.

Just because they are not the only ones, doesn't make it right though. The public sector are just easy targets at the moment, and nobody, whether public or private sector should have to be shafted because of government incompetances. FFS there are peopple coming to this country now, that will take up residency and when the time comes, they will claim a pension! Unless they have payed into the system for a reasonable amount of years, that cannot be right.

Yes mate, but only if the doctor`s seen him in the last 2 weeks, otherwise it has to be a post mortem examination.
