Ratreeper 441
Every time I see a stoat chase a bunny and able to catch it I wonder why an effort isn't made to domesticate them, I am always very impressed with their speed and strength. I understand the ferrets lack of chasing helps fill the pot, but now hunting is primarily a sport I dream of owning one. Can you imagine having a stoat that would recall like a dog? What more could you need for bunny bashing On the other end of the spectrum I think a domesticated bear would be amazing for replacing other working dogs for their sense of smell, strength (for rescue work digging through rubble etc) and not many would try and get past a security bear. Yes I am bored on a Friday afternoon waiting for a weekend of special cigarettes, but is it just me? I wouldn't want to replace the dog, but just hypothetically doesn't anyone dream of a cheetah or a jackal or otherwise? Edited May 25, 2012 by Ratreeper

tegater 789
It may be possible to domesticate one, based on the fact that the french sometimes domesticate weasels! Actually doing it must be incredibly difficult

But the stoat thing does make sense to me, they are amazing little animals. Part of this trails back to my falconry days when a stoat bolted and my hawk caught it, I got it offer her and chucked it back down the rabbit hole and it flushed the bunnies out for me like a gem, putting my ferrets to shame. There are clips of people hunting deer and hare with cheetah's and lynx, could be a sneaky loophole assuming letting cats loose in the countryside has a lesser sentence

jasper65 6
Have heard some Arabs have trained and Hunted Cheetahs, would love to see it put into practice. a guy where I shoot always used to give me his old shooting and sporting Magazines, remember reading a article about a guy who hand reared a stoat! there was a few pictures of it probably as tame as a Ferret which got me thinking wouldn't it be good if you could get out and do somthing with it? no idea if you can manage them and use them as the same princible as Ferrets?
