anybody feelin proud of th dog winning a faggy ribbon should start racing at drumbo park instead, atleast ya win good doe for the win, lurchers are all different so how do ya race them fairly????? bre

very interesting reading this thread-----lads , just forget it, its only fun , if you want to keep winning , buy a purebred and race it at shelbourne or somewhere closer to you , if these people are c

thought the whole day was shit can't say i was cheated on anything because all i took was a terrier never entered him in anything but afew mates that had good working lurchers in the shows where abit

i tink that the prize money is the problem, people /trainers tat cant win feck all in greyhound racing decide cheat at lurchers and whippets because of the prize money. only for my kids taking a mad interest in the racing i wouldnt care, i was going to get a whippet for a bit of sport for the summer and sumthing tat would stick a nite or two lampin.but whats the point kids always want to win, and cheating is against my morals

FFS these game fairs accommodate all field sports ,but after and sometimes even before the event the only people that complain are lurcher and terrier folk, the rest of the field sport folk must think we are a bunch of wingding ole ones along with all the anti groups that can see if we cant get on with each other how will we stand together keep our sport safe from the groups doing their best to stop it.

If shows and racing are so important get out off lurchers and gets pugs for showing or greyhounds for racing, and leave the rest that just want to have a bit of crack and friendly competition over the summer at the lurcher and terrier shows

Some shows require you to Protest at the time of the race to the stewards/organisers with a £20 deposit refundable if the protest is upheld this cuts out the bad losers from the serious complaint. Again how long do you think show organisers are going to put up with this prolonged rubbish after a show.

never mind kristy harper, the young lady bought what she thought was a whippet and now because shes wiping everyones arse they excuse her of alsorts, because the dog is a rocket or just well trained.

what about the two co.armagh sisters with the litter of unmarked greyhounds out of the greyhound on the side of there trailer.her story is that the two pups, owned by the older sister of the two has ,are out of non-peds in england :tongue2: :tongue2: lolololol

if this is true why arent they dew-clawed,and she has conveniently forgotten who breed them and there breeding, she lifted her prize without a bother on her, big smile for cheating

it will be interesting to find out what there mother is when they go to race the litter mates around drumbo.

the others they disided to register.theyve a yard full of unmarked greyhound

  ,think il get in touch with the greyhound club here as what theyre doing is against there rules,to see what they have to say.

these are the two girls that are informing on the kristys whippet, sorry girls, you shouldnt throw stones if you live in a glass house :icon_redface: :icon_redface:

I thought I had finished on this thread but fair points Pigsy. You and I often disagree but I enjoy our debates!

As you will know elsewhere I have asked Kirsty publicly twice to put up the breeder and the breeding of the dog. If I don't get an answer within the next week I will assume that this information will not be made available. To date all we have is a vague assertion that it was bred by someone in Greysteel.

I am meeting with the Glenbank club today to discuss these matters. BUT since I made the decision to let it run on Sunday along with two other unegistered dogs I personally will make the decision whether it can run as a whippet at Shanes. I did question its legitimacy as a whippet but was told it had been passed by the Sporting Whippet Club and a top judge of whippets. If the matter is not cleared up Kirsty's dog will be allowed to run at Shanes BUT only in the under 21 class.

For 2013 - it is likely that whippet racing will be restricted to KC registered whippets only.

I did not see the incident with the black dog but I will be discussing with Matt about the problem about persistent offenders. Such barging can be accidental as can be seen at greyhound raciing daily but there is a case for disqualifying persistent offenders.

On the alleged greyhound front - this is difficult. a 15/16 grey hound is eligible and full is not. Without knowing the breeding it is impossible for anyone to distinguish. Again we will look at taking an objection but please don't do so on the basis of rumour.

We have introduced the new Novice Directors Challenge and if we decide to continue to support the terriers & lurchers into 2013 we will have it on a level with the Master Mc Grath. So within this everyone has a chance of a good prize.

Albert regarding the incident of bumping you did nt see, ask Martin T how many times a greyhound can turn its head to fight another runner? or what happens to a bumper in the straight?(collisions on bends are different) its called interfering and the greyhounds card is marked and cant run again until its been trialled without turning its head or bumping

As for asking Kirsty her dogs breeding :hmm: I dont recall last years mm winner telling how/who bred that and there was plenty that asked

Y.I.S Leeview

LV - You are interfering again in something that does not concern you as you were not there nor apparently have you ever been to any of our events. Yet all we get from you is a torrent of criticism. I asked Kirsty the breeding because I was the one that made the decision to allow her to run.

Albertj

interferring by giving common sense suggestions but you being a biologist seem to think that qualifies you to run races as you please :whistling:

Sooner or later a dog will end up breaking its leg by being bumped/battered by another dog  not a pretty sight in front of the public guarantee you wont forget the scream when it happens :hmm: , will you pick up the vets bill or the club taking the entries?

As for not being allowed to criticise because I was nt there or ever been to one of your events absolutely poppycocks :hmm: I've never judged eggs but can tell a bad one when I see one

If I was unkind I could say you might see one most days by looking in the mirror!

But you really are some guy if you tell a bad egg by just looking at it - xray vision what! That makes as much sense as most of what you come out with.

Once again you try to criticise something from 'the other side of the pond'. You were not there, you did not see what happened. You did not see which dogs were bumped and which dogs did the bumping, or how serious the bumping was. I certainly don't base opinions or give advice or offer criticism on hearsay. How is that talking sense?

You claim some kudos by what appears a loose greyhound connection - do you not see bumping in greyhound races - certainly I have seen bumping, pile ups and aggression.

I don't run races whatever way I want - I don't run races period - the organising club does. And as for me being a biologist what on earth has that got to do with anything. I think it will have to be back to the Albertj v Leeview thread as in my opinion you appear to be a pollutant on threads relating to our events.

thanks albert for agreeing with me to let me have the rerun but when i went back to see the two matts they were having none of it.so i had them two against me plus the other people that were to be in the final,so that was eight people against me.i felt sorry for the other man that was in that same heat that had drove from drogeda with his two small sons to race.i know albert there is bumping in greyhound racing, maybe mistaken bumping at the traps or worse still at the bends as i have raced greyhounds myself of and on for many years.these lurcher that are bumping at are meetings its not actual mistaken bumping, that is what you call bulldozing they are just hell bent on driving into other dogs and wrecking the whole race, they are not chasing the drag at all.yet the people who own them keep entering them into the races.im not talking about any one dog in particular but i have watched the people that own them entering them week after week just to cause more disasters.somtimes i wonder whats in there head.i know as well you are open to suggestion, well i think you should bring the roscrea team up and let them run the racing at ballywalter and shanes castle.i was at there meeting in roscrea and shane lee has got everything down to a tee.also the dunsilly whippet club could run there whippet race and let matt lee and his son be in charge of the show rings.i dont often come on here but thought i need to voice my opinion.but anyone on here with any sense will know where im coming from.but i know for one sure thing prize money or no money i wont be running any of my dogs at ballywalter or shanes castle again.im not writeing this post to get at you albert because you have always been decent with me,but i do hope you will consider my point and have a look into with the rest of the crewe.

like horses having to put blinkers on i think that the dogs are ungenuine and not concentrating on the task in hand , therefore , in my opinion , should not be allowed to race , so as to spoil the racing ---open to a slagging i know , but who cares it's only my opinion -----den

p.s----- looking forward to the racing at shanes, ronnie fit at the moment so fingers crossed

" Keep er Lit " Dog Show Sunday 26th April 2026
It was rise and shine time on Sunday morning and just as dawn was breaking into daylight, we were on our way to our first dog show of the year. Very soon deep in the heart of the County Antrim countryside we arrived at the now famous Doagh Equestrian, and the venue for the annual “Keep er Lit “ dog show and what a day that was.
As usual the grass was immaculately cut with the show rings well spaced out and plenty of cold water for our precious canine friends on a very warm day
As the morning progressed into noon, cars and trailers with dogs in tow filled the field to capacity.  There was a very large crowd at this now very popular annual show.   The craic and the banter was in full swing among the huntsmen and women, after waving good bye to Mr Fox and his girlfriend of on their summer holidays.
As I walked around the field I spoke to many of my canine friends of yester year. There was plenty of tea, coffee and chips on offer and Paul Boyd was there with everything you need in Country Sports gear.
Some great bargains was to be had in the  Equestrian shop on site with big discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into the shop, otherwise I would off went home penniless.
When showing was complete, it was Raffle Time, and as usual the raffle generates a lot of excitement around the field, with some great prizes on offer. Time passes so quickly and very soon it was show time.

      Judges
      Lurchers       Harry Roche
      Strong dogs  Greg Murphy
      Terriers         Darren Guy
      Whippets      Shaun Dooher
      Pets             Justin Corscadden
      Greyhounds - Patrick Gibson
And Finally, Finally Leigh Thompson and Paddy Gibson, what can I say that will praise this partnership enough. Your show was well organised, a roaring success, and a credit to all good sporting shows and a great window for Country Sports.  It was evident on the day a lot of hard work went on behind the scenes, with a heavy emphasis on our hard working dogs both in the field and in the ring, and to make this show so enjoyable for everybody on the day.
Leigh and Paddy, Thanks for the memory and I am already looking forward to more of the same in 2027.
