i watched a few classes plus the final of the lurchers, during the final i was with a group of hunting men, a few of them picked the same dogs as the judge did, i have done a bit of judging at terriers before, i know what it,s like to make the final decision in the ring, i think the judge done a good job,

never seen any of the final's like i said on the other thread to albertj suppose the filth watching never helped the classes and thats maybe why i thought it was poor because the classes i was interested in where dropped but thinking about it reckon it was maybe for the best to try and stop anyone else getting in bother with the law

u think it was sh1te mate, f**k me with all going on in here think ill lev the pups at home lolol. people yas dont need to prove your dogs to anybody if yas are happy with how they work

yes mate like i said could've been because they had to drop afew classes filth where watching everything maybe thats why i never enjoyed it plus it was big sammy cracking up about his big dog getting beat and i had to listen to him and my head was busting before he started

I was wondering what the PSNI guys were up to and went to speak to them. I am afraid many of you misread their presence. These particular officers were ordinary 'beat ' constables who actually were just interested in the dogs. Had they been there on any other purpose it would have had to have been discussed with me.

Kirsty,

Winner is right on this. Time to step up and state unambiguously who bred the dog and what is his breeding.

there has been a mans name on here were people have refered to him as the one with the greyhouds why has no one said anything about him racing his greyhounds ? i think this is more about a way to attack the owner of this dog than it is about the dog ! what got me was the man that jump the fence about to hit young matt because he missed his race .

don't think alot of people entered there dogs with them there maybe thats why the showing wasn't as good as it normally is people never wanted to take the risk and you can't blame them the way the things are going with the media &uspca&terriermen at the minute

Hogie,

I do appreciate this was why terriers were a bit thinner on the ground but if there is to be any USPCA or PSNI activity at our events I would insist on knowing about it. In the past I have insisted that I or one of my team accompany any USPCA person attending our events and that stands. As I say I checked the two police guys out and found they were just interested in dogs and preferred watching them rather than sitting in the Landrover or Bus.

But let me put myself on record on this matter. I support all legal country sports and have always, at some cost to ourselves, have Horse & Hounds and Terrier & Lurchers at our press receptions including for the last two years at Stormont. I am a biologist by intitial training and while I admit I enjoy shooting, stalking , some fishing , gundogs and rabbiting where animals are necessarily killed I like to think the animals that I kill are done so, as swiftly and humanely as possible and more quickly and humanely than farm animals. As such I look on hunters as being part of nature and we can always argue we put back more into the environment than we take out.

That said I totally abhor people who cause unecessary suffering to animals in whatever sphere this may happen and as a dog owner and lover for some 55 years I totally abhor dog fighting. People who get involved in either are the people who will ultimately offer the biggest threat to our sports.

The 2 P.N.S.I officers were stand at the back of my van and i was listening to what they where saying, they where trying to pick the winners of each class between each other s they where going on,and might of being doing a bit of illegal gambling if the truth be knowing  .

and i was there when they where talking to a lad about legal pest control and they sounded genuine in agreeing about what he was saying and they did seem to have a genuine interest in the show

The Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 20th July 2025
Doagh Equestrian is situated on the beautiful Antrim coast in the village of Doagh, Co Antrim. This was a new venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day and the ideal spot for   last Sundays Show.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border. Some people came as far away as Limerick and Drogheda with families and dogs in tow. Our good canine folk love a good dog show in the summer and a chat with like minded people. They certainly were not disappointed at the Keep er Lit show.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his country sports stand, with everything needed in the hunting fraternity.
Some very tasty burgers were available on site and an Equestrian shop with great discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into that shop, as I was like a child in a toy shop with to much to choose from.
The weather was glorious all day and at times to warm. As usual the raffle generated a great buzz around the field with some great prizes on offer.
The show started with the racing first at approximately 12.30
Here are the Racing and Showing Results

      Congratulations to all above winners.
And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges and their ring stewards on the day,on behalf of the Keep er Lit Team for a job well done.
Strong Dog Judge : Gareth Barnett
      Lurcher Judge       : Gerard Melaugh
      Whippet Judge      : Colin Maguire
      Terrier Judge         : Martin Breen
      Pets Judge             : Gail Ross
Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
The racing was carried out as usual to perfection by The Mc Grath Racing Club Carlow. These people have many years experience in the Canine world both in showing and racing and their input helps to alleviate the pressure on the show organizer on the day. A job well done Biddy and team.
Some lovely photographs were taken on the day by various people, and no doubt these will be up on the site shortly.
And Finally, Finally, they say behind every good man is a good woman and Leigh Thompson along with Paddy Gibson, you both definitely fitted into that category. Your show was run with impeccable organisation. It was evident on the day a lot of hard work and sleepless nights was put into  this now annual Show. Leigh and Paddy you pulled out all the stops on the day and produced a top class show in a top class venue. Well done and a credit to you both.
I am Looking forward to more of the same in 2026. Thank you for the memories. To we meet again God Bless.
