The start of this thread was about the batterys going in a collar,Yet the guy got his ferret back.To try and say that if you aint got a locator there is no way of getting your ferret is bull, and if yo

Agree with most things you say . . . . . . but not going ferreting because you cannot afford a locator, or suggesting that one does not value ones ferrets if one doesnt use one . . . . . . is bollocks

No offence I'm just saying that your post is aimed at people who don't use locators, 'Im telling you'........ It's upto individuals if they use one or not. I've said it all before on another thread-

Question to the OP did these pro ferreters you were out with not teach you the most basic of rules when using a locater.

Always check your batteries, so before you start preaching about using locaters you really should be a bit more dilligant.

I don't know if this is intended for me ,but I will answer it.They were not my ferrets , nor my collars. A word to the wise. If you seek to gain any credibility on a matter, It is as well to be able to spell the subject you are lecturing on ,it is LOCATOR, not locater, See ,you can learn something everyday.

Oh and diligent , not diligant.

As I said previously, you are full of it,and I don't mean useful advice.

No it wasnt meant for you has you weren't the OP(original poster) as I've said I don't own a "locator" and I don't care what you think, I know I'm not full of it and plenty who've met me know I'm not too.If all you can do is pick me up on a few spelling mistakes then you really are a sad man, now tell me WHY I need a ferret finder when I've not lost a ferret in 27 years? Explain to me how they're an essential piece of kit, not handy, essential !!

And has I said to others come and have a day out and watch what my animals can do then tell me I'm full of shit, I consider myself quite an adept hunter and that dosen't include just killing a few bunnies you see "old wise one" not everybodies the same in real life as on a computer.

I tried not to make any spelling mistakes this time aswell.

I asked you how you would know where a ferret was underground? And, how you would know if it was behind a rabbit so you could,as you put it, block her in for the night? You said you wouldn't exactly know, translate that into you would not have a clue.

You said you would do what ever it takes to retrieve it. I asked you three times to share your" countryman's secrets" with us, your silence has been deafening.

I couldn't give a flying fart if you can spell, but I'll be f****d before I'll be lectured to by the likes of you.

N.B.You weren't successful in your spelling endeavours.

Lectured............you turned it into a spelling beef !!

And yes I edited for spelling. :tongue2:

Wish i had that magic wand when i put a jill in with a 15 foot collar and got her back a week later  . Boxes are nice but some of us ferreted before them

And I have ferreted when I first started without a collar and times alot waiting around was a 15 foot collar a bit heavy on Jill also always found the 15 ft collars less reliable than the standard 8 footers because the two batterys always seem to play up and work loose when the ferrets working on rabbits and failed to give a signal to the box.

WHO HONESTLY GIVES A FCUK ABOUT SPELLING MISTAKES, HOW MANY COLLARS YOU HAVE, IF YOU WORK OR NOT, IF YOU GOT 30 RABBITS THE OTHER DAY, OR IF YOU

CAN SIT ON A 12 INCH DILDO AND TAKE IT ALL IN.

You do it your way and others will do it theirs. ARSED.

I use locators and they do make life easier but as a lad none of us had locators and none of us ever lost a ferret. We did spend a lot of time standing around then squeeking, rattling sticks down holes etc and sometimes had to block holes up and come back the next day. We were never on permission and would not work warrens that looked like hard work. We had a great time. I do wonder though if the use of locators has changed the way people ferret?Does the fact that ferrets can be found and dug out quickly and efficiently change our tactics? People seem keener to use more ferrets and long nets seem to be used more? These tactics speed things up but I think they make a dig more likely. A lot of what we read about ferreting is written by professional rabbit catchers who need to take a very different attitude to the job.

Come away with 1 rabbit or 100. People ferret for different reasons and you 'telling them' that they will come unstuck doesn't go down well.

remember to Put the batteries in your collar before you tell us

We wish we had a locator because a locator with no batteries is like having no locator at all.

Could you "give a monkeys" whether you come back with the ferret or not?

I really don't care how others ferret, what equipment they have, or what they catch. I responded to this thread because I know the lad who started it ,and it appeared he was being slightly bullied.I rarely post here ,[you will be pleased to know.]

I am indifferent to whether a poster is erudite, or illiterate, but if you are lecturing you should perhaps spell the subject correctly?

If we wanted this forum to take note of our days out, and our tallies ,I would put end of day pics up on this forum.

We don't, and I don't.

I am far from an expert on ferreting ,or any other form of fieldsports, on the subject of 12" dildoes however, I am universally acknowledged to be an expert.

PM me for a treatise on the subject, and for my name brand recommendations

I for one will be the first to say that i miss yours and magwitchs posts and especially the photos

I wasn'y bullying anyone - a locator is a very good piece of kit and i never ferret without one these days, but i dont think the lack of one should stop a young lad going to with his ferrets. Or anyone else for that matter.

Happy Hunting for 2012
