gnasher16 31,602
Historically its London by far..........right this minute, probably still London.....closely followed by Manchester,Sheffield....Norwich has a fair few......easiest thing to do is check the World top 10 ratings and see where the British fighters come from theres probably no more than about 10 or 12 so shouldnt be too difficult. Gnash London and the Home Counties have 10-12 Million Folk to Produce there Fighting Stock. And a Percentage of the Names Folk know wont of been Born-raised in the Capital but moved there to join a stable. Hartlepool Oh Little Hartlepool by this little Northern Town can Produce a Boxer-Fighting man. Up there with the Best people per square Mile . He didnt ask people per square mile he asked where the best boxers in Britain come from .........for example the 2 best heavyweights in Britain at this moment are both from London..........i have every respect for the boxers Hartlepool has produced but you would be hard pushed to call them great on a national scale....sorry mate the best boxers in Britain dont come from Hartlepool....id also dispute the people per square mile thing.........i would guarentee an area like Canning Town has had far more British Champions than Hartlepool.....as would many other small areas like Kirkby or certain Scottish towns......Hartlepools a good little boxing area mate but you do get a little carried away sometimes Edited December 21, 2011 by gnasher16
gnasher16 31,602
Is Canning Town Not London ? As Owton Manor is Hartlepool. Gnash you love to move goalposts, Pity The Hammers didnt have someone decent atween them mate Might of still been Premier League. Canning Town is probably about the same size/population as Hartlepool.................how is that moving the goalposts ...... West Ham,Bow,Bethnal Green,Canning Town are all very small areas of East London of which any one has produced far more than Hartlepool......infact i could name you 3 British champions from Bethnal Green who were from the same street !...is that a small enough area for you..................blimey dont take a div like my word for it......Colin Hart ( the voice of boxing ).. see what he says http://www.thesun.co...n-East-End.html Edited December 21, 2011 by gnasher16
gnasher16 31,602
The question was where do the best boxers come from...........Canning Town,Bethnal Green,Bow etc etc all EACH have a smaller population than your beloved Hartlepool......i cant quite work out if your simply not understanding or your just a wind up merchant !...........London has a population of 6 odd million yes...........Bethnal Green has a population of less than 100,000 same as the other areas i mentioned.....Bethnal Green is an area,Hartlepool is an area..........boxers who.....................ah bollocks i give up !.......... Name me 1............yes just 1 World Champion who came from Hartlepool.............which therefore means Roman Rd alone has produced more/better boxers than Hartlepool......1 single street.......and thats an area 200 yards long with a population of about 300 people....whats pitta bread got to do with boxing or cant you think of anything else to say.....must admit.....im a sucker for a wind up merchant ! marshman 7,758
I know it's a slightly different thing but Repton abc which is just of the Bethnal green rd ,does produce good young boxers year after year. It's probably one of the most prolific areas in the country let alone london!

gnasher16 31,602
Hartlepool aint No area Gnash, Its a TOWN mate as a City is a CITY. Well doesnt that sum it up then......Bethnal Green is not a town or a city its a small little district among the 5% most deprived areas in the uk.......yet it has still produced more British European and World champions in 1 street than the whole of Hartlepool !....... Colin Hart has been known as " the voice of boxing " for many years.....a man respected for his boxing knowledge...............i say again......read the first 2 paragraphs and theres the answer ................or do you know more than Colin Hart ! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/3432238/Boxings-history-in-East-End.html Now repeat after me.............................. redcharge 379
Outside of London, Liverpool has to be up there?? it has a great boxing history and has produced its fair share of quality fighters John Conteh, Shea Neary, Robin Reid (sort of scouser ), Paul Hocko, Derry Matthews to name but a few, but it also has a good Amateur scene with clubs like The Solly and The Rotunda produceing some tidy fighters
