martnmagik 68
does any one on here have carpal tunnel syndrome? i have it in my right hand and it hurts like hell, the injections they give me dont work so i stopped going for them and ive been told i could be waiting up to 4 years for the operation to sort it out, so if you have got it or had it what can i do to ease the pain? ive tried using wrist and hand supports, keeping gloves on to keep it warm, deep heat, you name it and all to no avail. so any help or advice would be much welcomed atb mart

Wearing the wrist supports overnight helped relieve it a bit but she didn't really find anything else that made any difference.

airbourne 128
DON'T be a wuss and get on with it only joking. My wife had it the only thing that will put it right is a operation, push the doctor to get it done mate, keep going down to see him or change your GP
Tuzo 251
I suffer with it but fortunately after having injections in both wrists the pain is much less-usually only in mornings now. Before the injections the pain would keep me awake at night and I couldn't hold anything due to numb fingers. I wholly sympathise with anyone who suffers with CTS. Look at it like this....if it takes a years wait on the nhs and in that time you had to have a number of weeks off work with it the £,s you spend privately by jumping the queue pay for itself in the long run. Never had carpal tunnel myself but had enough hand op,s to know its no fun,i feel for you mate.
Ossie n Arch 1,683
I sympathise with you. I suffer with it but not to bad. I find it worse at night when it can wake me up, i then have to have my hands above my head for awhile. I also get it driving and then lower my hand to releive the pain. Fu*king painful. TOPPER 1,809
my missus has it she had the one hand done and only waited 6 weeks now she just has to say the word and they will give her a date for the op within 3 weeks but at the moment its the least of her problems as in jan she will be having the whole of her back fused together and plated up, i tried to trade her in for a new model but nobody was interested so now come feb if the scrap price is high i may be able to weigh her in
hyperion 122
I get pins and needles really badly after doing heavy manual work, digging ect, friend of mine showed me a little trick, "start with your thumb and then each finger in turn, relax your hand, hold the finger firmly upto the 2nd joint and give it a 'flick' up and down and around and pull it a bit till it clicks... make sure you keep your hand and wrist relaxed, do this on each finger till it clicks... then do your wrist and elbow..." Her words not mine, it helps me and gets rid of the pins and needles pretty quick so works as far as I know
