i used to have a patterdale that had most of its nose bitten off as a pup.after that he was very agressive to other dogs apart from one that was my other jackrussel. Family around the corner had no interest in there dogs and let them roam the streets all day and the dogs often found them selfs im my garden barking and trying to attack my 2 terriers.After having words with the family about trying to keep there dogs out of the garden they just hurled abuse at me.i was only 14 and a few weeks later i came home and let the dogs out and within a few minutes these 2 dogs had managed to get in to the garden and 1 darted at the patterdale witch managed to grab the boxer by the throat and inflicted alot of damage.i manged to split the dogs up and get mine back in to the house, took the 2 boxers back to owner and recieved alot more abuse and a few days later a £300 vet bill.never paid it and there dogs contined to wonder till one got run over and the other was taken off them.

Alot of iresponsible awners about. Hope your pup recovers fully, atb

Just be careful how you react when she starts to meet other dogs again as she will pick up on your anxiety,stay as calm as possible mate,a Terrier I had was badly savaged b y a Mastiff,but luckily she was fine with ther dogs after,but it can go either way.

There's a woman near me, an OAP, walks a black lab. She has no control over it. It charges anything it sees coming; prams, kids, dogs. It'll run right off the field if it sees you coming in the distance and she lets it off the lead all the time. It'll hurt or kill something/someone some day. Try telling that old woman to get her dog under control. OAP she may be but she's got a mouth like a sewer and she actually wacked someone with her chain lead the other day when they were kicking her lab off their 14 year old, on lead terrier. Next time she calls me a dirty foreigner and gobs off at me for kicking her dog off of mine - who are always on lead back there - I'm going to tie the dogs to a fence and give her a sound trashing.

 

There are loads of people out there who don't even bother to think ahead about the consequences of letting their dog run amok. Unsocialised, undisciplined, out of control, whatever ... we all have to have forethought with our dogs. Some places I only let one off and not all three, some places I put them all on lead if there's a bend in the path or I can't see ahead to who might be coming. Most of the time, tho, I walk for miles and miles so I can get into the middle of nowhere and be alone with my dogs and my thoughts and not molested by some fooking furry nutter.

 

There are too many stupid humans around these days, and too many dogs to go with them.

some twenty years ago whilst walking a 6 month old bullmastiff pup it was attacked by a japanese akita and badly damaged,whilst carrying it back to the car several other dog owners expressed their disgust at this well known idiot as the dog had previously killed other dogs whilst he stood there laughing.a month or so later a friend of mine asked me to look after his pit bull whilst he was on holiday!!both sorted,happy ending....

When she's fit enough arrange to take her out with a small group of peeps you know with steady dogs. Plan to let her meet them in an orderly fashion on the lead before having a romp together. She will soon forget about all of this Hoping she heals well and quickly.

i have a staff whos coming onto three years old.as a pup iv done everything possible to socialise,train ect to be a well mannered dog....and he is.

but in his younger days alot of dogs would go for him.only once badly but many times attacked by all manners of breeds.

he was nearly always on the lead so i could intervene immediatly if not before hand and he has always been good with dogs.

one of these dogs was a neighbours and good friends collie.

we stopped walking them together as his collie isnt the nicest of dogs.

anyway they have been good together for the last 18months through the fence and out the garage where they would quite often meet and all was well.

however about 5 weeks ago while i was on leave from afghanistan me and neighbour had a bbq to celebrate and decided to stretch the dogs legs up playing fields.

all was fine for 5 mins or so but then the collie growled and my staff just went in for the kill.luckily it was only a couple of yards away so managed to step in immediately and no doubt done more damage seperating them than anything else.

obviously i was embarrest that my training and socialising went down the pan....aswell as 350 quid vet bill i paid.

thankfully the collie has made a full recovery and i am insured so should get most money back.

that was the first time and last time that my dog will attack another dog as he is not allowed off lead when other dogs are about.

i just dont want to add to the bad name the staffy already has.

 

may be he/she wont forget just as mine didnt.

She was in a lot of pain last night but loads 'improved' today, she can stand unaided but cant sit/lie unaided yet. Last night was pretty shit tbh. The stitches are over an area about 3" and there is one other puncture wound a few inches away. Thanks for all the well wishes I think its a few weeks of help assurance and patience for us all.

the best lurcher i ever had was bought at four months from a man who kept greyhounds.he was in with a litter of them ,they were around nine months,he had a wound on his shoulder from fighting with them over food,not a good set up but he turned out to be hard as nails.

Well, stitches are out tomorrow. She seems right as ninepence but wary of any big yellow dog. I spoke to the vet last wee and he said the wound was deep. He was able to put his finger on her femural artery which scare me blind, I think had the opened the poor girl would have been dead by the time she was home.

 

Ever onwards now though thank heavens.
