the_stig 6,614 Posted September 21, 2011 Report Share Posted September 21, 2011 1.3cdti Astra H 57plate average 57 around town 68 on a motorway run easy to work on parts cheap as chips was looking at the astra estates the other day mate fancied the 1.9 sri but dont think the misses would get insured seen the 1.3 cdti but didnt know if it would have been to slow? had 2 old astra estates p reg and k reg they seem to go for ever .. had a towbar on one used to shift a horse box and a 8 x 4 trailer full of hay about no problem .. Get an Astra van mate, go through NFU insurance....£300 fully comp and breakdown, add your missues for about an extra £30!!!run forever and everyone seems to know how to fix them!!! Last motor i had was a xara piccasso. Had 215,000 on the clock when she finally died and i never got it serviced or even an oil change. Had it 18 months and went all over the uk with it. Did loads of off-roading in it and never got stuck.Those citreons are good IMO! Would need to be an estate for the 2 kids aswell, love vauxhalls got a vectra estate just now but it's a 2 litre Nd the misses ain't passed her test yet so insurance will be a bomb was wanting a vivaro or the likes a van bigger than a car mate but if the mileage ain't good I'll probably go with an astra estate when the time comes, the focus 1.6 td is doing about 74 to the gallon but when I looked the boots ain't big enough for a couple of dogs jim i drive 06 transit new shape,,,2.2 engine cheap tax,,,,,fuel wise ,,i had a petrol 1.8 vectra estate before van,,and i dont see that much diffrence, to be honest,,as long as u dont put foot down all the time thou ,,lol i tryed a vauxall vivro 1.9 van,before transit,,,i choose the transit,i thought it drove better renault traffic 2011, getting around 550 miles to a tank 90 lt tank What engines in it mate? I was thinking of getting a vivaro 1.9cdti but would need to be good miles Its a 1.9 so what miles are or were youse getting with the 1.9? whip x grey is it 2.2 petrol mate? Dont get the SRI version. I have the car and calling it an SRI should be against trade discriptions...........had a hire turbo deisel astra van(auto) and it was like shit of a shovel. Got a Renault Kangoo myself.......cracking wee van and got it for £375 so it could blow up tomorrow for all i care.... :laugh: :laugh: your like me then, fired a cd player in it and im as happy as larry (who the f**k is larry??) Goes like shit off a stick for the size of it, but eats the petrol when you put your foot down. Got plenty enough room for a big dog cage in the back when the rearmost seats are folded flat into the floor, and if I need more room the middle seats fold flat up against the front seats & there's as much room there as something like an escort van..
