CALCULATING THE COST

Recommended Posts

Sat in the pub the other night talking to a mate, subject came up on how much money the pair of us had spent on hunting, cost of buying and keeping your dogs, vet bills, ferrets nets ect not to mention guns, fishing gear, 4x4s, hell i reckon ive spent more on this game than i paid for my first house, must be well into four figures. How much do you reckon to have spent in your time. :hmm:

i wouldn't over think about it for fear of seeing how much i actully have spent....!!!! but if its on a hobbie you love, and provides

you with enjoyment and a means of destressing from the daily grind then every penny is worth it....

Snap.

Who knows, thousands upon thousands. When buying a car it was always for the dogs, house had to have space for kennels, kennels themselves, dogs, locators, shovels, leads, nets, lamps. Thats just the initial outlay, then the ongoing costs og vet treatment, medication, disinfectant, food, plus diesel etc etc, feck me its expensive

It will be loads but to be fair any sport/pastime that people have been doing for several years would run into the 000s dont imagine that hunting would be anymore expensive long term then any other outdoor type activity

You get out what you put in i suppose......if your happy to skimp on things it could probably be a pretty cheap hobby......but then if you want the best for and from your animals you got to pay the price.......

The thing thats different about this hobby is the time you invest more than the money......money you can get again, time you cant !

I would think the day you start to worry how much it costs is the day to give up.

It must be time for me then, last year i had a day on invite and all the way home all i could think about was the cost, i remember when i was young i just took a terrier to a hole and let him go.....no cost. This day out cost me my days wage £150, £60 Deisel, £60 vet bill and £10 for goodies at the garage, £280 for one days digging  .

The amount of money would be major, and the miles I've covered attending invites, hunts, game fairs would be 1000's upon 1000's.

I'd hate to think what I've spent at the vets before insurance was introduced :icon_eek:

Thats enough about your girlfriends, tell us about your dogs

more or less all my money is spent on my dogs, equipment, diesel to go out, etc...iv spent thousands upon thousands on equipment, dog kennels...u name it, and I can still think of many ways to blow a couple of grand...quad, boxes, truck, and thats just the start. p.s im here for a good time not a long time so dont really worry about the price.
