bert the fert 28
What's been the trigger for you to walk out of a job ? Do you think about it for ages and line up a new job first, or has there been a point where you just think " Sod it, i'm off ! " ?
FightTheBan 1,147
If I have something bigger and better to walk into. If its just 'cutting off my nose to spite my face' I will sit it out, no matter how bad things get. FTB

If its just 'cutting off my nose to spite my face' I will sit it out, no matter how bad things get. FTB Yeah, i think i'm that way out too, but looking back i've stuck at some rotten jobs for way too long and made meself bloody miserable. I think it's all very well being a sort of human version of Horlicks, but sometimes i wish i had a bit more " f**k off-ness " in me
PeakOil 352
Of the two jobs I have walked out of one I had another job lined up the very next day, 6 months of being gradually ground down made me take a couple of days leave to sort it all out and tell a couple of small lies in order to speed up my planned exit. The other was such a bag of shite I was happy to risk a couple of lean weeks before something else turned up and I wasn't prepared to take another 6 months of shite before I got so wound up I did something about it. But in the current climate I won't be thinking about walking out or rocking the boat as I don't fancy / can't afford a year or two on the rock n roll.

PINNACLE 2,297
I walked out of my last job 2 years ago when I was told my salary was to drop, my already stupid hours would go up and that the CEO had spent the £10 he owed me for making him £100K. I went to a solicitor and we got a good settlement in just a couple of weeks and I then set up on my own. It’s been tough but the thought of working for someone else again and taking all the sh1te does not interest me in the slightest, I have even turned jobs down that would pay more than I have made in the last two years. I remember setting up the business bank account and the business advisor asked me was I not worried about the security of not being in employment. I answered "how safe is your job and are you happy". The look on his face said it all and he isn't there anymore.

watchman 256
What's been the trigger for you to walk out of a job ? Do you think about it for ages and line up a new job first, or has there been a point where you just think " Sod it, i'm off ! " ? for me when its time to walk, its time to walk no matter what,i dont suffer fools and the few jobs i have walked from over the years have had more than their fair share, think it depends on your line of work and how appealing you make yourself in that particular role to a future employer, experiance, qualifications whatever,im 43 now never been out of work in my life but then the work i do is quite specialist and a few certificates and years of experiance can make all the difference

Kay 3,709
i am the sort of person who wont back down when i know something's not right ... i am not a jobsworth but the only job i have walked out of is one where i was caring for mentally ill adults i didnt like the way some of the clients were being treated by other carers .. what did it for me was one elderly client had become totally weight baring to the degree where she couldnt walk without being chaired from place to place... i was prepared to do that other carers insisted she was putting it on... i didnt think so & neither did her family... in the end the family took the lady to the hospital & she was x rayed & found to have a broken hip f**k the job & the decent pay .. i promptly walked from the job & now do a job that isnt heart breaking & frustrating at the same time ... sad really as i loved caring
