fenman1# 724
friend of mine had a first cross lab hound brilliant bitch on rabbits break any ditch in half for 1 the only thing wrong with her she wouldnt take a fox single handed, few months ago he went to the shop was gone for only 10 minutes and she was robbed out of the kennels with a 8 month old springer x terrier Quote Link to post
Chid 6,785
paul n scooby , lab x greys have been round for years just aint a popular cross as the others so you dont hear as much about them. Quote Link to post
terrierjohn 49
where are all these stupid questions about silly crosses coming from lab grey or boxer grey or jrt grey, stick to tried and tested stock instead of hit and hope i got to agree with that Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
where are all these stupid questions about silly crosses coming from lab grey or boxer grey or jrt grey, stick to tried and tested stock instead of hit and hope Have you run any of the above or are you voicing an opinion based on too much talk on here? I cant speak for any of the other crosses but i run a jrtxwhippet with good results, not so sure what a boxer would bring to the mix but i can certainly see potential advantages in using the right labrador blood. Retreiver crosses were fairly popular in days gone by and although they are not in fashion now i cant imagine them being all bad or they wouldnt have existed at all? In reference to the 3/4 lab cross in question try PMing labsnlurchers on here. She bred a similar litter a year or so ago, may either be connected or at least have some experience of the cross? wuyang 513
where are all these stupid questions about silly crosses coming from lab grey or boxer grey or jrt grey, stick to tried and tested stock instead of hit and hope i got to agree with that Each to there own, but i like my dogs to hunt and not just be slipped off the lead so i can see plenty of propects of including a bit of gundog in their lurcher. I have noticed that german pointers are also becoming more popular in the breeding of lurchers. Edited November 7, 2010 by wuyang Quote Link to post
dodger 3,587
A friend had a1stx years ago, she was a cracker took all quarry, the dogs he has now are bred down from her, if you get the right one and in the right hands you should have alot of fun with it. Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,829
My uncle had a lab x whippet for years when i was a kid it was a top class ferreting dog. Quote Link to post
heart of wales 19
Personally I dont see the problem with unfashionable crosses, the bitch I currently run is a first cross German Shepherd Greyhound,I have seen a Lab cross in the field twenty years ago the guy was taking deer regular with it. I would prefer my makeup of lurcher to be worker, be it bedlington bull poodle labrador or collie, rather than an over hyped show pony just because of its breed name. To a sighthound that has also proven itself in the field or on the track Quote Link to post

Mick C. 229
Very good mooching dogs. Brilliant nose, quick to learn and eager to please. FUR OR FEATHER not a problem and retreiving is second nature. Quote Link to post
