Ratreeper 441 Posted May 25, 2012 Report Share Posted May 25, 2012 personally I don't think it matters how many generations you breed a working running dog to another, or how many breeds are involved in the recent bloodline I would still call it a lurcher. I haven't really thought about the pedantics of the word, I just think of a lurcher as any working dog that was bred to chase down game. To me the word 'lurcher' means a type of dog, not a breed. If two lurchers produce offspring to the same type, the offspring is still a lurcher, whereas too me a mongrel is a mix of different types..
