I'd call a lurcher to lurcher a lurcher Raymondo  For example a saluki/grey x bull/grey, or a collie/grey x collie grey, i'd call the former a lurcher and the latter a 2nd generation lurcher........

And to me a mongrel is a dog of unknown linage, crossing two purebreds is a cross breed, just my opinion...

Patterdale x lakeland x glen of imaal is still a terrier, if it works its a working terrier

Greyhound or saluki or deerhound etc x with anything as long as it works is still a lurcher although id prefer at least 25% sighthound in the blood to call it that

personally I don't think it matters how many generations you breed a working running dog to another, or how many breeds are involved in the recent bloodline I would still call it a lurcher. I haven't really thought about the pedantics of the word, I just think of a lurcher as any working dog that was bred to chase down game. If others think it is a mongrel then I would be proud to own a mongrel.

Wouldnt agree with that

Nor me. To me the word 'lurcher' means a type of dog, not a breed. If two lurchers produce offspring to the same type, the offspring is still a lurcher, whereas too me a mongrel is a mix of different types..
