Popped out

Recommended Posts

Been out for a bit tonight , just a couple of hours . To hot to do anything else so i though i may as well go out for a mooch . Now i dont normally use the range finder for anything other than zeroing in and checking my POI`s .Tonight i thought ide `range` what ever i shot so i know what im up to , dont` get me wrong i dont take stupid shots , and only fire at what in pretty sure i can hit . Anyway , pulled up in the car to see a young magpie. I rested the gun on the passenger window and he went down . I ranged him at 51 yds . I went down the wooded part of the shoot where there are a lot of bunnys but their a bugger to get in the shrubs and thickets . I waited a while as a couple had spotted me and ran , and soon had two in sight . Not a distance shot , but one that had to get through the mesh of undergrowth to reach the target , nice doe at 43 yds . I had a woodie that was sitting in a tree but could`nt get to him , and he was a sitting duck anyway . Now from where i was i could see a rabbit down on the bank , if i walked up and over the the slight hill i could get to a reasonable distance without having to stalk him . So i did just that . I was above , and as i went into prone , he saw a movement . He sat still , alert , but still for long enough for me to decide that i could take him there , where he was if i allowed for the drop and slight breeze . So i eyed him in the scope , and he fell to one side with a twitch of his leg . I put the range finder on him , 61 yds . A long shot , i did`nt think it was that far , but thats with the drop as well and i was a good 15yds above him .
