Ha! When I started work I was on £7.00 a week. I'd aim to have 10/-, that's ten bob, that's 50p, left on Thursday night. Four pints of mild, 10 Players No 10, and a bag of chips from Dirty Doc the Chipman on the way home. Good night out. Quick grope with Elsie the village bike on the way back made it perfect!

Those were the days my friend . . .

Oh my god

Ah remember when me Mam could buy a whole used slipper for Ha`ppeny and it fed 5 off us for a whole schoolday !!!

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah! :clapper:
