  1. Well done lad but, what happened to your collie cross?
  2. Skycats old bitch Mina. Pure class.
  3. From what you say it sounds like you don't have much choice in the matter. Running a dog with that kind of foot damage is only asking for more trouble. You are risking yet another break to that toe not to mention ligament damage. Get your dog down to the vet asap and I hope it all works out for you both.
  4. I have to agree. It's no way for natures greatest athlete to die. Its non selective and very unsporting. Sad as it is this kind of behavior happens on many farms across the country in the belief that if there are no Hares there are no Hare poachers, pikies, meatheads call them what you will. . There must be a better way of dealing with the problem.

  7. Hi Rew, is your dog out of David's stud dog Magregor? I had a sister to Magregor that in typical Beardie style took a while to mature. She was incredibly intelligent, hard working and tough. She took all game from Munties to Fox. She would also take the occasional Hare but, only when running doubled up with my other bitch. As a ferreting dog she was outstanding, always spot on with her marks and rendering the ferret finder virtually redundant. Her retrieving was always spot on, in fact she was fanatical about it and would carry back anything I would through for her, even house bricks. She
  8. The shaggy parasol is my personal favorite. You can find along hedgerows and on the edge of woodland from mid summer into autumn. After that it Puff balls and chicken of the woods.
  9. Rew, don't you have a 3/4 bred? I think I've seen a pic on an old thread.
  10. Only ever had one Beardie cross: she lurved foxes to the extent that by the time she was 4 years old she'd go through a field of rabbits to get to a fox on the other side, and also hunted them by scent until she put them up.........as good as any fox hound on a warm scent. She wasn't to bad on the long ears either if I remember right Skycat. Though she lacked that top gear of an all out coursing dog. Have you got any pics of Seeker, I'd love to see her again.
  11. Looks like my kinda' dog Stabs. Is it a first cross?
  12. Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone else ran Beardie cross lurchers. Now, by Beardie cross I mean straight Beardie/Greyhound, be it 1/2, 3/4 or otherwise but, not Beardie/Border. If you do run a Beardie cross I'd love to hear your experiences and see any photos you may have.
  13. My father first took me fishing a 8 years of age. I caught 3 perch from a local drain, all around the 9/10 oz mark. I got my first ferret, (Bazil) a white hob when I turned 10. Now it was at this time my parents parted company so I had no one to show how to go about ferreting. My first trip out saw me ferret in box and fishing keep net over my shoulder . I found an earth and entered my ferret, placing the keep net over the hole the ferret had disapeard down. A few moments later a rabbit sprang from the earth further up the hedge so off I ran to hold my net over that hole only to see a rab
  14. When you apply for your next job try speaking with an eastern European accent. and offer to work for half the going rate Your right there mate. I'm 34 and unskilled, by the time I'm 40 I'll be virtually unemployable anyway due to cheap euro labour so I guess I'll get my wish eventually. Will the government support me? . Back to Montegue's post.
  15. When you apply for your next job try speaking with an eastern European accent.
  16. Now I think you might be onto something there Monty.
  17. Thanks P, I do appreciate the offer and if I lived on my own I just might have taken you up on it.
  18. I need help! I'm stuck in a job I hate and I work for a bunch of :wankerzo4:'s who would rather employ cheap euro labour but, I have to do the job to pay the bills. I do a split shift of 0530 to 1330 -1330 to 2130 so I either get all morning or all evening with my dogs but, It's just not enough. I need more time to do the things I want to do. I still need to pay the bills so has anyone got any Ideas, sensible or otherwise, as to how I can lead the life I want as well as paying THE MAN. I'm generally an honest chap so bank robbery is out the window.

    rats

Any old shite should do the trick. Last I knew rats weren't to fussy about what they ate. As BT says try putting some mesh round your bait, maybe popping it into a wire birdfeeder so as the rats have to work at it, giving you time for a clear shot and you'll need a clear shot too. Back in the dark old days when I still shot at things I'd have a pop at a few rats, unless you get a clear head or chest cavity shot you wont kill it. It's more likely to run of screaming to die a painful slow death underground. Now whether its a rat or anything else, it doesn't deserve to die that way does it. Pers
  22. I agree with you completely Crow, we need to distance ourselves from this low life scum  It has nothing whatsoever to do with hunting. They are the ones that have and continue to damage OUR future in hunting with dogs. How anyone can condone dog fighting or in any way equate it to hunting I really do not know Spot on Crow, my sentiments exactly. Whether the bbc hammed the story up or not the facts remain the same, Dogfight is cruel, barbaric and senseless, it has no place in our supposed civilized society. How anyone can seek to condone the actions of these mindless feckin t
  23. Have you tried contacting Danny Bamping of the British big cat society? You can contact him by phone on 07831658492 or by email at danny@bigcats.tv. If it is a big cat attack he's the man for you.
  24. Congratulations GS, welcome to the world of working lurchers. Make sure you train it to a good standard of obedience, feed it well and put the time in as you'll only ever get out of it what you put into it. Above all love it, care for it and it'll work well for you. Good luck fella!
  25. What kind of world are we living in where this shite gets put on the net in the name of entertainment?
