  2. Yep it's a wheatear but which one???? I think this one was a first winter male rather than a female. Anyone else?
  3. Well JD your nearly right. It's actually a pallas's grasshoper warbler, affectionately known as P G tips to all twitchers on account of the white tips to it's wings and tail. A very rare vagrant from Asia and still as far as I know the only twitchable bird on the British main land. This one was photographed on Blakeney point Norfolk on the 22nd sept 2001. It was one of the maddest twitches I think I've ever been on. More reminiscent of a pheasant drive than a well organized twitch. I guess it was one of the reasons I packed it all in, to many people care more about gettin' a tick' than the bir
  4. This is a subject that is very close to my heart. What ever you choose to accompany you on your ferreting trips it will have to have a good concentration level. It's no good having a dog that gets bored and wonders off to do it's own thing so IMO sighthound saturated lurchers are out. You'll need your dog to have a good nose as marking is an essential skill in a ferreting dog. Marking inhabited burys and pinpionting kills bellow ground will save you hours of un-necessary work. Intelligence is key and above your dog must be biddable. The best ferreting dog I've owned was a first cross Beard
  5. KIckin' meself over the Robin. No mate it's not a sedge but it is from the locustella family.
  6. I take it by the lack of response to this thread that a vast majority of people either don't know about or don't hold alot of stall in Reiki healing or any other alternative therapie. Shame I was going to offer my services.
  7. My guess is a juvenile Blackbird. Ok this ones a little harder.... Shot with K810i at 2007- Shot with K810i at 2007-07-11
  8. Beautiful pups Monty, real corkers. The dog pup has a familiar look about him or am I mistaken.
  9. Thanks everyone for making me welcome.
  10. interesting thread , one that is very close to my heart , after all is said and done the ability to heal naturally is all about feeling . We all have the ability CB, we just have to open ourselves up to it.
  11. Me too jembo. Don't be so quick to knock those that haven't completed thier master though. Those who have taken thier second Reiki attunement have all they need to give healing to your animals. As you say, trust is important as there are alot of money orientated people around that although they have the ability they are not really doing it for right reasons.
  12. Probably the best or certainly in the top three that I've seen run, that is if you're refering to Meena skycat. For me it's putting the time in to train them and then seeing it all come together. Above all theres nothing like the thrill of the chase to get your blood pumping is there.
  13. I also realize I spelt realize wrong. Sorry folks.
  14. I was just wondering how many of you had used the services of a Reiki healer on your dogs? I've heard good things from respected lurcherman and have found Reiki to be extremely effective in speeding up the recovery of sick and wounded animals. So whats the general concensus on complementary therapies when it comes to your running dogs and terriers? I realise I could be sticking my neck out on this one so sensible replys only please.
  15. You must have seen pics on another site. Yes shes a first x Beardie. I'd be interested to hear from any other Beardie lurcher owners.
  16. She looks a cracker mate, best of luck with her. . Heres Deva showing more than a passing resemblance to her dam not to mention her grandsire.
  17. Yeah he's a poor ole bugger now. Still had it in him to sire my new pup though so theres life in the old dog yet. Mind you Stats getting old now himself he he, Sorry mate if your readin' this but I couldn't resist. You didn't say whether Reaper was the dam??? Was your bitch from Spirits litter?
  18. Very much so Montague. Is yours a product of a Reaper x Merlin union? Heres my old girl as she looks now. Shot with KODAK CX7330 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA at 2007-07-08 Shot with KODAK CX7330 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA at 2007-07-08
  19. Anyone else fancy a guess?
  20. Well mate if you were to ask Stat he'd probably tell you they were Jack russel crossed with a pig put back to a pit pony then crossed with a shire horse coz that his sense of homour. To be honest theres just about everything in there and they've been bred that way for ages.
  21. you say there is little or no saluki in these dogs, well how would you rate them today against the saluki type lurchers that are the top draw dogs of today,do you think your dogs would live with them? HI Bob, Firstly can I say that its the blue brindle bitch that has none or at least very little Saluki in her breeding and although she could and would take Hares regularly she was never going to be a top match dog. I think we all know that the Saluki x is king when it comes to matching or single handed compatition. All the best Hare killers pre ban' were bred that way and certainly all the
  22. Ello mate, use imageshack instead its much easier.
  23. Hello Fezz, the pup is lurcher to lurcher with just about eveything in her breeding except Bull I hasten add. The other, well why don't you have a guess as to what she is. It would be interesting to see what you or anyone else comes up with. Thanks to everyone who posted a welcome, its nice to make your acqaintance.
  24. Hi folks. I've owned two of Stats lurchers and IMO they're right out of the top drawer. My old bitch regularly took hares on the lincolnshire and cambridgeshire fens depite the fact that there was little if any Saluki blood in the breeding. She was also equelly at home lamping or accomponing me on my ferreting trips. In later life she took the occasional fox, pre ban of course. She is now enjoying her well earned retirement being treated like a baby at my mothers. I now have a new pup from Stat and she is coming on a treat. Here are a few pics. 25. I hope you don't mind a new bloke chippin in on this one. I own two young lurchers one of which is still a pup, five month to be exact and another older bitch. I personally wouldn't want to own any more than that as I don't think I would be able to find the time to work them. It's not just a question of time either, enless your very privileged to have acres and acres of land to work your dogs over or you just poach where you like then your ristricted that way too. Also IMO it's important to build a strong bond with your dog so the more you have the harder it is to achieve a true connection.
