    I think I remember the film JD. Isn't it about a young lad who fancies a popular girl at school and his mate who I think was the school caretaker who was knocking off one of the school teachers. Oh what a tangled web. Be buggerd if I can remember what it was called though.

    Thank you Skycat. I'm inclined to agree with you on most of what you say. It must be awful for such intelligent animals to live such a mundane existence where the only stimulation they have is barking thier poor bloody heads off. His kennels are clean with plenty of fresh straw for the puppies but, the yard is still more reminiscent of a scrap yard than well a maintained kennels. His own house would probably be turned down by the 'how clean is your house' ladys for being too dirty and I have always declined the offer of a cup of tea on my visits for fear of contracting some bug or other.     Where are you ferreting Phil? I've never thought of ferreted rabbits as being easy meat for a lurcher but, then i do do a lot of ferreting along hedgerows and in woodland. A dog really has to be on it's toes when working in this environment.

    Having checked back on my records I found it was a first winter female. I have seen some very pale first winter males, probably of an eastern race, lacking the darker feathers around the ear coverts and throat. This bird was photographed on Holme beach Norfolk 3rd nov 2001.... Desert Wheatear. Wish it was an Isi though. I've never seen one in this country, seen plenty in Cyprus. I did have a very close call with a bird on Hunstanton golf course but I never got a look at the tell tale tail feathers.
