lot of truth in what i say...............my old man many many years ago....used to have the old farmer giles ....and one day got the Preparation H mixed up with a tube of wintergreen............he was on the move for at least an hour and his eyes were watering and nearly bit thro the stem of his pipe............. he only did that once..

you are not hijacking the thread at all..........love to see those old models of working knives..........interesting to see the way they are riverted together,,....i use a similar system on my hunting knives ...i call it my "saxon sheild boss"........had to make my own inletting tools to acheive it......... see below...

so ....all the springs cut and shaped by hand....then into the fire to harden temperature and quench in oil...............clean off and anneal...to spring temperature (blueish)....then clean up again and get the thickness spot on.........the spring needs to be a bit smaller than the tools so the riverts hold the tools snug and the spring is free to move and hold a bit of oil.. then clean and polish and ready to fit/assemble //

sitting last night infront of the TV.......and some of trumps govenors mates are releasing the lockdown.in their states...and the people are trapesing the streets armed to the teeth............ YYyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....HHaaaaaaaaaaaa........yippee -ki-ayyyyyyeeeeeeeeea MF***** speechless........

well .........ive heard some carp from him before ...but this really tops it........... he has told the medical profession that they should investigate ...wait for it .................................. "injecting disinfectant into people who have coronavirus..........to cure them..."... well..........thats certainly thinking out of the box.........he has (to be fair) been lambasted by the medical profession........and as a result they will all be sacked no-doubt for going against him...

i have Hornets that visit me in my shed during the summer.....they are awesome...if i sit still and rest my elbow and put my hand out...sometimes they will land on my hand......they look wicked ..but always gentle giants...............dont like wasps tho...

got the flat stock out ...O1..........and started tracing out shape...using the hole as a datum point...........i welded on of the springs back together to get the shape right,,,,,i will increase the size of the pivot point shoulder as that is where it seemed to break as a result of being jammed with rust

sorry meant baby gems.....i eat a fair ammount of salad and use them when i can..............also love pink fir apple when i can get them............the standard varieties out of the shops are ok but i find lack taste...................i miss those yellow flesh spuds that used to come in from cyprus every year....they dont come anymore....
