shooting at a mates in hereford once we where by the 4x4 calling when we see some eyes. you could tell it wasnt a fox. my mat elooked through the scope but he must have got wind of us and didnt hang about or stay still long enough for a shot. i was surprized how fast he shot off to be fair

what you got to tell them is the amount of ammo you use has nothign to do with the safety side of firearms. well shootign the rifle more does give you more guntime with the rifle. it doesnt mean your any safer. i say this because anyone can go on a range day and blast off lots of rounds, when i asked for open the guy on the phone said ammo is took into account. i told him how much i had used and he said it didnt seam that much, i then told him it is a fair bit when you think its just vermin shooting and not just sat on a range in one postion allday firing off a number of rounds in th

vit n130 or vit n133 look about the best for the 223 with that weight bullet. the n130 24 grains will give you 3300 fps but work up to that if i where you. the n133 24.9 will give you 3300 fps. again work up. these are for 55 grain blizking bt bullets. it says the accuracy load is n133 with 24.2 grains for 3200 fps with 1251 ftlb this is out of a 24 inch barrel with rem primer, federal case and a 1 in 14 twist which is weird as most 223 rifles are 1 in 12 or 1 in 8 or 1 in 9

jamie g replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
alot of the lads i no that use to be with basc is now with the ngo. not only is it alot cheaper the insurance they give you is very good. and the head guy is the guy that use to work at basc. he also wrote the firearms guidelines what the police use. and will back you if you need him. who better to have ringing up for you then the guy that wrote the guidelines the police use -
there very good rifles mate. i have the older model stealth which was in alot of reviews years ago as one of the best out the box rifles in 22/250 you could get. mine comes with the soild h&s stock with alloy bedding block and i have replaced the trigger for a jewell match trigger which are anything from £200 to £250 pound over here in the uk. im looking for 675 posted to the buyers rfd ! THERE CANT BE ALOT OF MONEY ABOUT AT THE MOMENT ! as i guessed this rifle would have been snapped up got a nice rpa rifle now coming to my rfd as ive allways wanted one. guess being english made is a

i would take the tikka ove rthe browning if it was me. but go with what you feel is best. dont be put off by secondhand rifles also. as long as you have a good look at them in the shop
-
im going to drop the price on this to £675 posted to your rfd. must go as i need to send my ticket in next week for a one for one. and dont want to leave it at the rfd

take it to a good gunsmith get the barrel chopped and screwcut and recrowned and your have what you need. what is the barrel length at the moment ? 24 inchs im gussing ? your be fine going to 20 inchs. just make sure you use a good gunsmith. as the re crown is the most important thing. if this isnt done right the rifle wont shoot for shit. as for letting the police know. it doesnt matter you dont have to inform them you have done this as your not changing the rifle caliber its still the same rifle

hi mate i have some 50 grain tnt bullets heads you could try. they cant be posted tho as there expanding. your welcome to come and get some off me tho. i live up in worcester. bring your ticket tho so i can check to make sure you can have them. i have a tikka 222 so could give you some tips if your new to reloading. reloader 7 is very good powder for the 222 and the 50 grain tnt bullets where made for the 222. they expand superbly and make massive damage to what ever they hit. i use 40's in mine now as i like the fasty flat flying round. of course 40's dont buck the wind as good but a

good going. allways nice to blood the new rifle.

nice rifle. look after it there pretty rear. be carfull with the butler creek slings some have a habbit of snapping if the rifle is pretty heavy, not so much snap sorry. but they tear at the stiching at the top.
-
ive also forgot to say that well fast light bullets help on the lamp your be surprized with the drop of the heavier bullets. a 243 pushing 55 grain bullets are very fast and dont have much drop at say 300 yards. but a 70 grain bullet fired from one is still moving. and you look at a drop chart and there isnt much more drop with heavier one at 300. and when they get to the target they hit much harder then the 55

i had the same trouble when getting a foxing rifle. i got the 22/250 in the end and never looked back. im getting a semi custom rifle now and that is going to be 22/250 again. for foxing there superb and small deer like cwd and muntjac. imo its ok for people to say a 243 will trump a 22/250 with light bullets. it will but look at the extra powder your going to use. people also say you can use it for all uk deer. which you can use the 243 for that. if you got deer on your land fine but if you havent there isnt many that will get granted 243 just for fox. barrel wear will be more

as above going to let go my winchester 22/250. it has the soild alloy bedding block h&s stock on it aftermarket jewell match trigger factory set to 1lb [ breaks like glass] 26 inch varmint barrel screwcut m18 x1 which is the sako factory varmint barrel thread. it will come with leupold weaver bases the rifle has had no more then 500 factory and reloaded rounds down it. it shoots factory sako, federal rounds very well. but the best factory rounds it shot where the winchester silver tips. im currently using 35.5 grains of varget and 50 grain vmax or blizking bullets. good

what mounts have you got on it. it sounds more like there not centered to the action. are they windage adjustble mounts ? i ask as i had this problem some years back. it zeroed fine but i noticed it didnt have much more right clicks. which was because the rings where not centred. thats why its taking all the adjustment up

Would I get an open FAC first time?
jamie g replied to LordGamebore's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
west mercia are pretty tough on open tickets. i had 22lr and hmr on closed with mentoring. then i asked for 22/250 and at the same time to have the mentoring took off the rimfires. got the rimfre mentoring removed but had mentoring on the 22/250. i ge tto go to my mates farms and get the odd bits of land which wasnt past. i wrote in a good letter and had letters off my mates saying i was safe and i had been out with them and they trusted i was a safe shot. and know how to handle the rifles in the right way. i asked for open then on rimfires and mentoring took off the 22/250 or che
