  1. That looks a hell of a big whippet haymin - how tall?
  2. Strong mark from the lurcher in the bramble bush. Unfortunately he was on the wrong side when it broke cover...
  3. Don't think it shows up in the footage but she pushed out a rabbit that ran down the hedgeline. You can hear her yipping as she takes off after it.
  4. A few bits and bobs from today's walk - She often does that - stops for a while on the edge of cover as if she's sussing out exactly where her quarry is. Shen once she's sure she steams in at top speed.
  5. If you can't find anyone just go to your nearest saddler and show them the photo - they should be able to knock one up for you without too much trouble...
  6. I've worked two spayed bitches (but not terriers - one was a gundog, t'other was a deerhound) and it didn't make a jot of difference to how they performed in the field. Can't honestly see how or why it should affect them in that way...
  7. Nice strong looking pup - atb with him....
  8. Haha - I had the same 'handbrake' issues with mine but she's settling down really well now. Good luck with him - looks nice
  9. The terrier had another one this afternoon...
  10. Lovely picture. How tall is she now?
  11. Bit of both mate, though she pegs more than she runs down.
  12. Best not tell your kids, but I met the Easter Bunny sitting out in the sunshine this afternoon -
  13. Caught a couple again yesterday - here's one of them. Lurcher being a right pain trying to rob her of it....
  14. Fast enough for what? Short, sharp dashes after rabbits - I very much doubt it. Long runs with no cover in sight - possibly. The way I'd look at it is to ask if a straight deerhound would be fast enough. If the answer's yes then crossing to the bull might possibly still be, but I think it highly unlikely that the pups will be faster than the deerhound. It's not a cross that I'd want personally, but each to their own...
  15. I use John Lewis - good level of cover for reasonable price. No quibbles when it comes to making a claim.
  16. You're absolutely right - she's everything I could possibly have wanted. Already a great busher and shows real promise as a ferreter - fantastic nose on her and she gives really good solid marks when I'm out with the ferrets. She caught two more rabbits today, both healthy for a change. One adult and one baby. I took a bit of video footage of the walk - will have a look at it later and if it's any good I'll stick it up here.... When your'e out bushing does your terrier work through most of the cover regardless or just cover that holds scent or game ect, mine used too when she was younger
  17. Not such a stylish retrieve this time ...
  18. Often something in here... ....but not today

  20. Pup already got loads of confidence but it's certainly great for her retrieving. If your pup's already smashing through brambles Joe, he's bound to make a catch sooner or later, especially now there are little ones about....
  21. Original pics definitely NOT water voles - tails way too long. Water voles def not for hunting - endangered, protected species.
