  1. The nicest shooting springer I own is a 77k in .22 Its had a polish and relube , but the thing that makes the most diference is the 25mm internals less mass than the more modern rifles with 26mm internals so less recoil . I have also got a .177 77k with 25mm piston and comp tube that is very accurate but does not shoot as nice as the .22 ATB Mike
  2. I have used both the JSB Express and the AA Express and think that the AA are better , I thought that they would be exacly the same pellet but looking inside the skirts side by side they are different and the AA are alot brighter alloy and they shoot different out of my HW 1OO . So if buying some try both ATB Mike
  3. Hi darryl am thinking of getting one of these scopes , just wondering when you remove the locking ring off the front of the scope to re PX the scope can you adjust by using just your fingers or is there 2 cutouts opposite one another that you have to put a blade across to turn as usual , cheer's ATB Mike and thanks for the vid bud
  4. I was shooting at our local range the other day and a bloke there had just bought one , think he was a bit hamfisted he had trouble with the mag relese catch then a pellet fell out of the mag and jammed it , after all that he kept working the bolt and was not closing the bolt fully on fireing so the pellet was not leaving the barrel he ended up with several pellets up the barrel and that was an end to his days shooting , I would not have one now after seeing him bugger it up if I was you I'd get an s4OO or s41O much better IMHO ATB Mike
  5. Picked the rifles up this morning only shot them in the garden but they both shoot realy nice . I would say the old 77k with the 25mm piston shoots sweeter than the Chieftain . Had a good hour and half chatting to Tony and other customers in the shop , always worth the trip and the coffee is great , pitty its not a bit closer to me
  6. Easy , got to be a Hawke Panorama with half mildot ret either a 3 9x4O ir AO or the 4 12x4O ir AO and they are by far the best scope for the money Ive used
  7. Going to SFS in the morning to pick up a new Chieftain and also an old 25mm piston 77k ive had stage 1 tuned there also got a stage 2 77k and a 98 stage1 they are all great . the trouble is once you have shot a well tuned rifle there is no going back .
  8. I have 2 rifles getting tuned at Sandwell at the mo an old 77k with a 25mm piston getting a stage 1 tune and a new chieftain getting the full monty , and yes it is 1O weeks or was when I went down with the 77k on November 13th
  9. Is the review of the Chieftain still on the cards Davy been expecting it for a while . Hope so I ordered 1 in November and should be ready in a couple of weeks ATB Mike
  10. Seen some on Gunstar last night there are quite a few on there
  11. I bought a HW77 .177 in 1993 and sold it to a mate about a year later for a HW8O my mate has had it since then . A few weeks ago I made him an offer he could not refuse and now its mine again I took it down to Tony at SFS for a stage 1 tune the other week and now cant wait to get the old girl back . Tuned 25mm piston 77 does not get much better than that I recon IMHO ATB Mike
  12. For big stuff it would have to be a Benjamin Rouge in .357 but thats a PCP as mentioned above it would have to be a HW8O in a springer but still way off in power to deal with stuff like boar or deer better to stick with CF in .3O8win etc
  13. If it does go over Skot and you dont want to send it back you can just remove a preload washer under the top hat inside the piston thats all Tony did with my 98 and it dropped by 1ftlbs saves messing around with the spring ATB Mike
  14. My SFS S1 HW98 went over power after running in , I took it back to Tony and he took the power down while I had a coffee in the shop and did not charge for either . The pics dont look like a SFS tune to be honest , as far as I know they use a custom fit spring guide and top hat and dont machine the standard down they also dont use a piston liner , watch the view inside the action as Tony shows how much grease is used inside the IMP on the VHTV revew . This particular could have had the internals swaped over and then sold on as the cocking slot has been debured and the trigger seems to have
  15. The ret on the Varmint is a totaly different half mil dot ret and is thicker and not the floating ret design as on the panorama , digi nite eye , tac 3O and sidewinder's . I have all of them and find the ret on the varmint to be far inferior than the others , dont know why Hawke do this on the oterwise good varmint model IMHO. ATB Mike
  16. Dont know about if its compatible with the NS5O but the ret on the varmint in half mildot is not very good compared to the half mildot ret on the hawke panorama range have a look through them both first an you will see what I mean ATB mike
  17. Cant find the rifles there Andy are they on Gunstar at that price I'll have one
  18. Hi tom it depends if you want a PCP or a springer but if after a good cheap springer have a look at a weihrauch 99s nice light hunter with full power , also the Hawke scopes are good and not too expensive maybe a sport hd 3 9x4O you should be able to get a decent gun bag to and change out of £3OO , you can get cheaper but the Weihrauch is quality kit
  19. My SFS 98 in .22 loves H&Nftts to Brian , was down at SFS last week and had a look at the Imp nice little handy rifle but ended up ordering a Cheifton with sporter stock it shold be ready in 1O weeks I'm sure it will be worth the wait ATB Mike
  20. Hi Whistler I know the guy that has got your old 97kt . I remember posts on the WOC about you sending it to SFS for the tune I'll prob end up shooting it down our local range , Its a small world ATB Mike
  21. Yes 1O weeks villaman thats good compared to some tuners . good things come to he who waits
  22. Cheers for that Davy looks like its gonna be well worth the wait then look forward to the review ATB Mike
  23. Hi chaps I was down at West Brom on Friday took my old 77k in to sandwell field sports for a stage 1 tune and have a look at the SFS Chieftain . i ended up ordering 1 . It was the last sporter they had in , tony said he is ordering more from Weihrauch . The wait for me to get it will be about 1O weeks just wondering if anyone got 1 what you think . Ive already got a s1 98 and a 77k s2 and they shoot great does the extra barrel length of the chieftain make it shoot diferent Cheers ATB Mike
