  1. only 2 species of deer here and one is as rare as hen s teeth and the other is like rats...........everywhere
  2. will attract rats if nothing else
  3. there is a point you have missed for domestication, if you take a passage goshawk it will not look at large ground game rabbit/hare but a captive bred one will take them with little effort as it has the falconer to back it up and finish the job quickly, the same may well be true of wild polecats would they exclusively live on what we believe them to live on basing our assumptions on our domesticated ferrets, the mink in the United kingdom are not truly wild but are indeed descended from semi domesticate stock that had no natural fear of humans or any idea on food sources for long term survival
  4. falconers have been trapping and training passage birds for years and then releasing them when they have done with them so its nothing new. i doubt your mink could manage anywhere near the amount of quarry a typical ferret puts in the bag in a season, some lads are doing 3 or 400 rabbits a week, some even more.
  5. Remington are similar in the fact there slightly harder than the rest Forgot all about the remmy's to be honest. I here alot of people saying about shooting with a .17 at 100+ yards, but imo the .22 is the perfect tool for rabbits. It can shoot in tighter spots than the .17, despite the ricochets, and the rounds are way cheaper, doesnt destroy the meat and I maintain that while the .17 can shoot at 130 yards, I can shoot comfortably all day long at yards and still head shot, which is plenty, especially if walking land. i have owned 2 hmr`s a 1517 thumb-hole and a cz sold them both but

  8. you need to be the dogs world and reason for being, crack that and training is a doodle. some dogs are more nervy other more head strong, makes no difference if your the centre of their world, never had to beat a dog just tone of voice should be all that's needed, if the red mist starts to rise walk away and resume another day

  14. f**k aye, just can't seem to suss it, and can't handle that walshie ripping the pish all the time........ just stick it on manual mode and play, basic principle try to set the fastest shutter speed that the light, and focal length your using will allow for the aperture setting you require for the shot, compensate for low light by cranking up the iso,
  15. traps keep working whilst your not there, use in conjunction with shooting and Pete a cattle trough is a cheaper and safer alternative compared to blasting an old trap with a 12g
  16. hardest frost so far................
