  1. Very good book pup shaved his stopper pad last week followed the instructions in the book done the job dogs on the mend and saved a vet bill :-D
  2. I'll look into it then mate do u mean the nail or down to the leg bone? He's still a daft puppy at nearly 11 months like still bit clumsy
  3. I got told 250 and can have complications if it goes tits up not off the vet like. Still have to exercise the dogs through the summer I try and keep them on the grass he done his claw in the local wood some dipshit with a Rotty n pug let her muts run and get tangled with mine who was on the lead at the time can't win
  4. Dear do to get them removed and vets don't like doing it unless there's an injury I was told can be complications ?
  5. Dear do like went through 2 wraps by Thursday, I wasn't gunna bother with the stuff to be honest mate till he knocked his dew can be doing without that carry on agen and it was only a little injury
  6. 80per cent no chance a pup can throw to the sire or the bitch or past sire and dam. This % thing is bull shit imo I agree my pups the double of the sire wouldn't believe the dam puped him, a bloke said to me u can buy your fancy but not likely breed it
  7. I've been putting that vet wrap on my pup he pulled a dew claw last week but it seems to keep his stoppers right, looks like abit of a twat mind but seems to work
  8. thanks mate it makes sense now I didn't realise each row was half a mesh in length and 2 rows make a mesh. :-D
  9. Are you going to use the net for hares? As a 5" mesh is too large for rabbits. I use a 2 1/8th board to give a 41/4 inch mesh and do the net 14 meshes deep+ 2 half selvedge meshes = 15 meshes deep net. 15 x 4.25" = 63.75". In truth anything around a 60" drop is fine. so if you were using a 4.5" full mesh divide 60 by 4.5 gives you 13.3 full meshes, so 13 would be fine, that would be 12 meshes for the body of the net and 2 half selvedge meshes giving you your 13 meshes deep. TC sorry it's just for rabbits when ferreting mate :-). To get the 4.5 inch mesh is that a 2.1/4 inch board with 2
  10. Lol even dafter question I made a net I thought 17meshes I a row with the 2 1/4" board (same one I use for purse nets) got to 4 foot long before I took it off the anchor to check it and it seems really narrow, is 17 meshes the equivalent of 34 loops on the board?! Black magic this long net business hats off to you's lol
  11. How many meshes do you's put per row with a 2.5 inch board please ? Going to have another go at a longnet :-)?
  12. I can't get it to work on my phone mate ill have a scroll through if it was only last week :-)
  13. Hi I knitt my own purse nets use the pattern 8 on the ring then 8 then up 1 mesh per row to 17then reduce 1 per row until 8 then another 8 on the ring works out about 3ft6 (when i dont miss any out ;-))just wondered how other people are doing it ? Thanks :-)
  14. That's it mate I prefare using my own nets to the ones Iv bought and I don't usually leave them behind like hemp there harder to miss :-D
  15. I really like making my own purse nets, some of the warrens we do with the ferrets are really big think me and a mate have about 60 between us and there not enough some of the grounds hard work for the dogs that's why I'd like a long net to cover the bad side and leave the runnable bit for our purses and the dogs will only be used day time stuff
  16. Thanks for the replies It is quite a built up area I got pulled afew months back day time on the field getting the pup retrieving to be fair they were interested they never seen it before thought I was gunna get ear ache turned out they just wanted to warn me about the quads flying about that's why I posted the cops didn't know what retrieving was exactly what you said about them assuming I'm hunting with a dog on a lamp
  17. Thanks mate I wanted to look through the archives but can't get it to work on my phone, I really fancy making a long net don't like the look of the eBay ones
  18. Lol won't be long then ;-)
  19. Might sound daft but can I take my 10month old pup out on a public field practicing his retrieving a DUMMY on the lamp or will this be seen as in per suite ? I know it's asking for trouble in a built up area like I'd be out the way abit I don't have any permissions I could get him night trained on at the Minuit.
  20. Hi Iv been making my own purse nets for abit just for myself been doing them 8 on the ring then 8 again and increase 1 every row till 17 and decrease by 1 every row till the last two rows of 8 and ring all double knotted think there 3ft6ish what patterns do every body else use? Also how is a long net knitted ? I assumed first row same amount as all till you get the desired length? Thanks I advance :-D
  21. Not sure but I know it gets worse if you stick a finger up its arse at same time....lmao
  22. Lol which accident mate he's had a couple now I can still feel twinge in me leg now and then! Iv seen his sire run hope sully gets the knack if it the same :-D
  23. Can't be that fast and nimble, it's not caught owt! ;0) lol he's nearly 9 months now not slipped him on anything yet just afew bits he's seen before I have on exercise walks ;-)
  24. Interesting stuff thanks, mine are exercised in the woods more than anything he's chased afew things he shouldn't have luckily never hurt himself touch wood, funny thing is he's clumsy in field or beech had me on my arse afew times and other dogs but very fast and nible through the woods and scrub. I don't want him running anything I the woods and doing an injury like!
