  4. NO MATE NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS,THE RAT WAS IN THE NEXT STALL BURIED INTO THE STRAW.THE TERRIER IS JUST MARKING.IT GOT AWAY THOSE PICS ARE JUST A FEW STILLS FROM THE CAMCORDER,IVE JUST MADE A DVD.
  5. ive never been ratting before in such a difficult spot.the pics dont the place justice. thats why i enjoyed it so much,it was hard for the terriers to get anywhere near the rats. i can go out and catch as many rats in a few minutes at night but today was good hunting. and the company wasnt too bad either :11:
  6. we didnt get many but thats one of the most enjoyable rat hunts ive had this year. dug this fox the other day so ive had a good christmas cant wait for next year
  7. my mate helped me dig out my plummer bitch even though we knew she would most likely be dead.we both took a day off work and knew we would be dragged into the office next day. as soon as we got into work the boss was over but was soon made aware that we would do it again everytime it was necessary.
  8. mine have never been bad fighters.not sure if ive been very lucky or havent owned the line that fights.
  9. many are, what im trying to point out is that even among plummer owners there is bickering about purity and old and new,it isnt that clear cut as there is no such thing IMO the question of weather you could get plummers from working parents easier in the past is a valid one. i now have a promising pup which would now be called a crossbred patt/plummer,a few years ago he would have been called a plummer. it all confuses me and ive had them for a decade. :11:
  10. nice pics millet. id imagine the plummers ive had are very similar bred to what millet calls old strain.i lost a good bitch in february in a drain after she hunted a scent across a field.i tried calling her back but i guess you cant stop a terrier from wanting to find a fox.she was well marked up when we dug her body out.a tragic accident and i wish i could find a bitch like her again. she did breed a bitch which weve used for the last three years.this bitch is the one eyed rough coated thing which some may have seen on the edrd site.this bitch died two weeks ago after working a fox. all i
  11. depends what people are calling original lines
  12. getting bit is part of ratting but i wouldnt want any pup of mine to get bitten before its second teeth are through so im carefull.
  13. I TAKE MY TERRIER PUPS OUT WITH US AS SOON AS THEY ARE JABBED UP.USUALLY THEY SPEND MORE TIME PLAYING WITH THE CALVES THAN THEY DO WATCHING THE OLDER DOGS BUT THEY GET TO SEE RATS BEING KILLED AND JOIN IN ON THE RAGGING.OFTEN THEY JUST SPEND THEIR TIME CARRYING AROUND A DEAD RAT BEFORE GETTING BORED AND EATING IT  BEFORE I HAD AS MUCH RATTING I CAUGHT RATS IN TRAPS BUT FIND GETTING THEM THEIR FIRST RAT FROM A NATURAL SITUATION BETTER,NOW ANY RATS I LIVE CATCH ARE GIVEN TO THE LURCHERS. BY WATCHING AN OLDER DOG CATCH AND HUNT FROM SUCH AN EARLY AGE THE PUP IS USUALLY MARKING AND TRYIN
  14. all my plummers and plummer crosses have retrieved without any training, can be a bit rank when the pups are trying to give you their dead rats but they soon learn i dont need them fetching :11: ...........when out together the terriers bring the rabbits back, the lurcher gets posessive and runs around with it.they do things the wrong way round
