No experience, but comprehensive review here and a video about re-zeroing after a barrel change (1st link) and a hands on report on a forum (2nd link): http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/07/foghorn/gun-review-desert-tactical-arms-stealth-recon-scout-dta-srs-rifle/ http://ukvarminting.com/forums/topic/9394-desert-arms-tactical-stealth-recon-scout-srs-rifles/ I am kind of wondering why you want a barrel changeable weapon so much though given that each barrel costs almost as much as a good rifle! Surely its easier to change rifles than carry a big heavy barrel(s) and change cal

Deker hit the nail on the head. .243 ammo costs very little different to .223 (around 10p per round different), and .243 is a better long range foxing round. So absolutely no reason to apply for .223. Why not just save yourself the cost of the .223 rifle and instead spend the money on something else? .17HMr, .243 and the shotgun will cover virtually all situations.

Whats The Law On This. Please Read

He must be a real idiot to confuse a laser pen with a torch, Apart from anything else, you can't get a white laser pen as no white diode exists. Even if you were using a red filter, the beams are very different - laser a few mm diameter with low divergence. Ordinary light thick wide beam with huge dispersement / divergence. -
Ah OK. That explains it.

I take it that was a joke.... BTW you can in theory shoot anything with anything given a close enough range (big game / hogs excepted). However, its also a matter of responsibility. Shooting foxes with anything smaller than 3's not only risks injuring the animal and causing suffering but also potentially landing you in jail or court as a result. Remember there might not be a minimum specified size but its still an offence to cause unnecessary suffering and if you shoot and wound an animal, even if you subsequently kill it, and for some reason the police or RSPCA become involved (there are

.243 will do everything. It's a great fox round. Only reason to look elsewhere is if you want a bigger deer rifle. BTW only reason I'd use the turrets is accuracy and that's what they're their for. Memorise some common distances and in daylight at least it should be easy. However, I totally understand those who find milldots quicker or easier. Depends on the quarry, available light and preference. -

Camo option is synthetic but if it floats your boat why not. IF you wanted a different laminate then the Sako 85 Varmint Laminated Stainless uses a natural wood stainless. However, you're upping budget (and quality) considerably: http://www.sako.fi/sako85models.php?varmintlamss -

Nothing wrong with mildots but for real accuracy you should be using the turrets and tables, that's what they're there for. Mildots are good for when a quicker shot is required. -

I don't think you're going to get a definitive answer. Stainless vs Moly, no real performance difference other than stainless doesn't rust. Unsure on barrel wear. Stainless is very hard but some ferrous steels can be super hard as well so difficult call without knowing the exact steel used. However, I've yet to hear of an accuracy difference from stainless vs moly. Laminate vs synthetic, similar performance and stability. Both exceed the performance of normal wood. Laminates are waterproof and extremely strong and stable due to their multiple layers and laminate looks nicer and can be -
Buy a mushroom grow bag. Much safer and pre-seeded. Put it under the stairs in a dark cupboard and pick safe mushrooms all year. It can be a very dangerous game identifying mushrooms eg: Chanterelle: False Chanterelle: Top one great cooking. 2nd one, whilst not highly poisonous, can cause alarming symptoms in some people.

New 2013 Home Office Firearms Guidelines
Alsone replied to Alsone's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Not read most of it. It does partially clear up the shooting with a non licensed friend : However note: "On some occasions though, where the status of a certificate holder acting as an occupier is an issue, the chief officer may need to consider seeking the advice of counsel." So there's still no cast iron guarantee. Also, this is posted under Shotguns. There's no repeat under Firearms although there's no reason to believe that these guidelines don't apply there as again it refers to "The Occupier" and also says "In the absence of any firm definition for firearms purposes, -

Yeah I think everyone has an opinion / preference as to stock / barrel material. That said, get a good gun and it will be a good gun irrespective of materials. -

I'd say go stainless laminate. Not only does wood look nice but laminate is as stable as a synthetic stock without the scratching risk (and if it ever does get scratched it can be polished and refinished), and with stainless you have less maintenance worries plus a very hard wearing barrel. -

A .223 at point blank range even through a skull will travel a foot + through bone and flesh with no problems. Also depends on what type of bullet ur using some will travel further. Here's a penetration test through 1/4 inch steel plate from around 25yards (camera starts off zoomed in). Soft point goes straight through. Now apart from doubting that a cow's skull is tougher than 1/4 inch solid steel, there's also point blank vs 25 yds to take into account:

Commercial ammo is more powerful as the military aren't allowed expanding ammo due to the Geneva Convention. Military bullets try to deliver more energy by tumbling. Commercial ammo induces hydrostatic shocking trhough expansion / fragmentation. Or to give you a more visual explanation. A soldier shot through the arm / leg often has a wound that can be bandaged (that doesn't mean its not serious). However, the same shot using commercial ammo would most probably sever all arteris veins. muscles, bone and blow the arm / leg clean off the body (depending on the calibre of course - but you wou

Not particularly a working man. Very much middle class background, although very down to earth. I hear what you're all saying about UKIP but the fact is a vote for them is wasted. They'll never get in and all that will happen is the Tories will get back, probably without the Lib Dems this time which will mean Cameron will be in power and completely unchecked. We all make our choices but personally I put paying the bills, eating and having the NHS and benefits to fall back on ahead of shooting. I can live without shooting, I can't necessarily survive without the others. BTW if you t

Deker if the point you're trying to make is that they're all as bad as each other then I agree. For me personally having always been a conservative voter, I find what they've done to the disabled disgusting and unforgivable. A bloke near me had an ATOS medical and was allegedly taken ill 1/2 way through due to his condition and had to be rushed to A&E where he nearly died and was still found fit for work! He's not alone either with this kind of thing: http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2011/02/sick-who-gives-atos.html Then as a further sham, the higher rate of tax is
