  1. A few already mentioned bring the memories flooding back.Another I can remember went something like this "we plough the fields and scatter the good seeds on the land"
  2. Nothing at all wrong if the pups are off working parents.Plenty of pups about that are not from proven stock.Good luck with the mating, hope everything goes ok.
  3. I have seen a few dogs take Red single handed over the years but have never yet seen a dog kill one or get it down single handed. The times I have been out running them I have seen them caught off deer fences, dry stone walls etc.The hardest way to catch them is out on the hill on there own terms as they cover the rough ground so well.Sometimes a Red under pressure will head for water such as old flooded peat diggings or a shallow river or a dyke then it will stop ,turn and face the dogs. Then if the dogs got the minerals it should be caught and the owner should be there to help out straight away
  4. I know a lot of lads who ran the Red over the years and quite a few of these lads ran dogs that took these beasts single handed. The best of the ones I saw was a first cross Saluki Greyhound stood at 28" which took Red Stags on a regular basis.I put a post up on page 19 on the bull breeds section a while ago regarding running the Red.
  5. A show for me is somewhere to go during the summer months and have a craic with the lads about the previous seasons work me and my dogs have had,and also raise a few quid for the clubs that are running the show. You do get people there just for the rosettes but I dont think it has a detrimental effect at all on the genuine lads who get to the shows who work there dogs.

    wolfs

Have a look at this mate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AItT4-wOPwc looks like Mongolia and there using Eagles to take a wolf.
  7. I have owned both these crosses over the years and they both have ther attributes.A first cross has hybrid vigour more stamina and a bit more hardy.Ive found 3/4 breds to be obviously faster and better at closing the distance between it and its quarry, but mine semed to pick a few more injuries up.I suppose it boils down to what quarry you are after and how many runs you expect your dog to have during a day or night out.I had a 3/4 grey 1/4 Deerhound when I was a kid and it could run all day and night,If I ran the dogs the same way now and on the same game I would have one of these again.
  8. I use this one and it has had them romping in.There not cheap but they are effective,If you are a member on here you also get a discount http://www.decoying.co.uk/?page=show-item&item=349

PottassiumPermanganate mixed in a jar with a bit water.Put the dogs feet in the solution for a bit then wash its foot clean.Do this for a few days and the pads should heal up nicely. You can buy the PP from chemist shops. Its also known as Colbys Crystals. As Cupid pointed out its Condies.

  14. Its your dog to sell mate, but I would be asking why someone would be parting with a dog thats already grafting at the end of the season ? I would have kept the pup imo it hasnt even started yet, lets hope this new dog doesnt have any faults your not yet aware of.

  17. Are you thinking of the two fights between Dave Mcauley and Fidel Bassa ? Both of them cracking fights.
  18. Ater the tour finishes I think they fight on the 5th May.
  19. Personally i do, "we" can call him whatever they want. Agree with a lot of what you said Mick, any fight that Mercer goes the distance in i would put money on him not getting a result...simply by dint of him not being very profficient at the art. Nevertheless he did fracture two assosiated Tyson skulls for a do at returning a slight to Iron Mike and later got paid $3m step aside money. Yeah the Mercer Lewis fight was real close, something about Lewis seemed to pull the best performance out of "some" of his opponents (Bruno....dont laugh). I agree mate Mercer was a rough lad and he star
  20. Tyson kod Holmes in 1988 and kod Ferguson in 1986..Holmes beat him on points in 1992 (mercers first pro defeat) and Ferguson lost to him on points in 1993(if i remember right)Mercer was however a good fighter and I thought he at least deserved a draw when he fought Lewis. This was the start of the time when fighters would rather fight contenders than the other belt holders. There should only be one belt in each weight class then that would ensure that all the top fighters do meet in the ring rather than everyone arguing over what might have been.
  21. Somebody must live next to you with a good fox dog.If I was you I would look around for a lad with a guaranteed fox dog and get him to go with you on your permission (he might be a bit reluctant to take you on his places).Let your dog see the dog do its stuff and see how your dog reacts but hold him back.I had a dog a few years ago a bit like yours ,so I took him out with a mates good dog a few times letting him watch the action. It didnt seem to be making any difference, so later on one night we saw another fox and let both the dogs off at it.It was like flicking a switch I honestly dont know
  22. The cheapest place I could find to buy the Blitz is on ebay. The seller is called General Shooting Supplies and If I remember I think they were £73.
  23. Larry Holmes said before he fought Tyson, that Tyson would end up a sob and its come true alright.Tyson incidentally chinned him in the 4th round.Evander for what its worth could only beat him on points.I rated Tyson in his day but to be honest his split from Rooney, the Givens fiasco and then the time he served in jail and ultimately his lifestyle worked aginst him.A good enough amateur to have USA olympic trials, the youngest heavyweight world champion, undisputed world champion(fought for every belt)and numerous world tile fights. If thats a bum I would like to see the real thing ! ps It wa
