  1. That's excellent offer, thanks, I would like to speak to them if possible. It also looks like I best get some fly casting lessons in down here pretty darn quick then. I had also heard the salmon run was not like it used to be.
  2. Thanks for the replies, I have never picked up a fly rod and not got a clue where to even start on that one, hence I was thinking trolling and spinning,, I have down riggers on my boat already for trolling for bass, and have a good grasp on how to go about that, hence it was the way I was looking to go forward. I would not really be interested in boat hire as mine is kitted out to the hilt and I prefer to use it than hire one. I had a look around ardbrecknish when I was up there, some very promising spots. I heard a rumour an almost 30 came out a week last Friday, was just a few ou
  3. I am looking for some serious help here. After many years away from the course scene, (took up saltwater) I had a short holiday in Scotland and am getting itchy feet to get back there for some fishing on the lochs, the stories of salmon and trout are truly awesome, so I need to get kitted out, and any advice on tactics would be excellent. I have a boat, and next time I go I am most likely taking it, so was thinking of doing some trolling, and drifting for pike. What I want advice on, what would be the best rod and reel, what line to get, and any lures ? The main loch I am thin
  4. As above, and another thing to remember is be patient, it gets very frustrating watching the m drop a few hundred yards away, and you will want to try and stalk them, take my advice, it rarely works, they have better senses and hearing than you think. Sit tight and wait, I have sat for many hours with them just out of range, but sooner or later they will drop on you if you have concealed well and chosen the spot carefully. The main thing with woodies is they alter the habits, but always use the same parts of any given habit, morning will see them in a particular part of wood or set of
  5. I would be very interested in this if its still available. Rob.
  6. He does say reply to this thread ! So probably did not want to be in undated with mail, or is a believer everything should be out in the open.
  7. I have had one for years now, must be close on 8 years, never let me down once !, apart from buddy bottle o rings. God knows how many pellets have gone through it now, and I found it likes a cupell the best. I have also got an r10, and that is also eating the accupells at the moment as I have hundreds of tins of them. I have just ordered about 40 sample tins of different sorts so look forward to them arriving. Bottom line, the s10 loves accupells, and is very reliable, I had two, swapped one for a car and wish I had never let it go. Oh, I sent mine off to a guy, Harrogate I
  8. My mate would have had that off you but no postage, you should get quite a lot more if you was able to post, they are making reasonable money at the mo. Ron
  9. Ok, looks a nice bit of kit, and out soon by the sounds of things, might have a word with mother in law, she lives in the states and may be some deals to be had. Rob.
  10. That looks more like a dedicated night scope rather than an add on ? Looks a nice bit of kit mind ! Anyway, I have agreed a deal on the pulsar challenger now, and I don't let folk down, I may be selling it soon and looking at other options though, time will tell. What scope would the pulsar challenger gs be ideally suited too ? Rob.
  11. Thanks for that, it's a 12ltr bottle. I have been looking at getting a 300bar, but they are rude amounts of money so may stick with what I have now.
  12. Just to hijack this a little, (hopefully it ma also help the op) why does everyone say get the 300 bar bottle, I have a 232 and have used it for years on my superten with no problem, is it just the fact you don't get as many fills and not getting full pressure every time ? Or something more sinister . Rob.
  13. Forgot to say, I am now in the market for a new scope for this add on, I fitted it with a spare cheapie scope when I got it, so reckon I need to upgrade to get the best from it all..
  14. Ok, we'll thanks for all the advice, I have made a purchase, albeit second hand from a member on here. I have. Gone for a pulsar challenger with a n1000. The deciding factor is, a mate I sometimes go out with has said he will give me the price I paid if I don't like it! Result, but I am hoping I get on with it and am finally sorted. Thanks for taking the time and patience to help me. I will update what I think on Wednesday, as I have a ratting sash booked in now, yay. Regards, rob.
  15. I am not from the area, but I am often down there, usually every 2-3 weeks, me and a mate would be happy to go in for a few days and blitz it hard, then regular visits to keep it under control, ferrets, airgun and long netting our speciality, if this is any help let me know. Rob.
  16. Nice one, they are a cracking bit of kit and mine feels real nice to handle, starting to think I should also get a 177
  17. Well done, like others have said, a good clean shot. I also have the r10 but what's the vc part ? I am really starting to like mine, it's pellet on pellet shot after shot, really impressed with the accuracy. Rob.
  18. Excellent response, cheers, looks like I gotta do some shopping, would it be too much for some links to where you buy from ? Rob.
  19. Thanks for the opinions so far, it sounds as though the dedicated night scope won't be the one for me, but rather one of these add ons you have mentioned, that way I keep just the one rifle, and have the option of fitting onto my .22 as well. So after narrowing that down, I now need to narrow what add on unit I am looking for, and the sort of costs I should be expecting to pay. I must stress that using it on the .22 is not a must, it's really only the r10 that I want to get fitted out at present. Thanks for everything so far. Rob. I probably should add, I am a bit of a tack
  20. Thanks, the magnums, acupell and power pell I have already got, be interesting to try a few of the others mentioned though. Thanks.
  21. Thank you for the replies everyone. I realise the scope I linked to is a permanent fixture, I was considering this or the Yukon scope, and it would mean having to buy another rifle for day use, sigh, how terrible ! However, it sounds like I have other options. These add ons, how do they affect your shooting position ? I presume they will narrow your eye relief, so possibly make your shooting position further back ? How easy are they to add/remove, I guess by the very nature of them it will not be a major task. In reality, having never even looked through any nv kit, what is
  22. Looking to get a night vision on my BSA r10 for ratting and lamp shy bunnies. Are there any particular models to avoid, or any I should really be looking at ? It has been suggested on the hunting thread I could look at a DIY job, but to be honest I don't really have the time or patience to build such a thing, and I am not sure I could get used to looking at a screen on top of the scope rather than through the scope itself. The ranges I generally use are between 10yds and 60. I don't want to go too silly and spend thousands, but also not really after cheap and very cheerfully ei
  23. What are the best slugs for the r10 in .22, want to try a few different ones to see what gives the best results, and was hoping someone may have some suggestions. I only use it for hunting, no target work. Cheers, rob.
  24. I believe we are staying at portsonnochan (check spelling), looking at the map it is on the north east side, but willing to move about depending where is fishing. I was also thinking about hiring a boat, but not sure it will happen this time yet, might end up on the bank in some bay somewhere. Rob.
  25. Hi, has this sold or do you still have it, would only be interested as a full kit including bottle.
