Having finally given in to the sparrow hawk I built a safety porch on the front of my aviarys,all looked well until I fitted the mesh.standing back and admiring my handy work ai realised you couldn't see in the flights anymore ,then I remembered some old posts by fireman and millet about painting the wire black,all I can say is holy shit it's like I've left the mesh off.if you haven't already done it get it done ASAP Thanks lad it's the best bit of advice I've taken in a long time. Big thanks to hammo for all the help lol Just need to put trim pieces on around the mesh then all systems g

Thanks for the advice lads I've put so pigeon netting up as a temp deterant and a couple of balloons around the garden which seems to have done the trick,now off to build that safety porch....

Like I said jjm I'll build a front porch when aviaries are empty,just need an idea on how to stop him in the meantime.I've put some pigeon netting across the front as a temp measure but he still has a go frightening the shit out of them.i need to try and stop him coming in the garden with some kind of deterrent.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to stop spar from attacking aviaries as I've lost 5 bully chicks this week,I'm just after a quick fix until I can build a front porch onto the aviaries Thanks....

I had this problem with a whippet pup on good quality pup food,it started to role over on the front paws,was advised to use a lower protein adult food and within 7 to 8 days the front legs had completely straitened out

Thanks mate I used to feed them red ills tracker but they never looked very good on it is the gain a better quality feed or are they pretty much the same ?

What dry food is everybody feeding their whippets. I currently use chudleys greyhound maintanance but was thinking of changing to csj tripe complete,just wondered what people's views on their food was or if you can recommend anything better ?

I rung 5 bully chicks the other day and was struggling with one that was abit on the large side and thought id have to leave the ring off then tried it on the other leg and it went on.so my opinion is which ever leg you can get the bloody things on

after a bad start things seem to be settling down,iv'e got 8 bully chicks on the sticks,another 6 hatched today and rung 5 greenies todaysiskins have done nothing yet but they are in the canary aviary so not expecting much from them this year.also have 6 mosaic's on the sticks

what the piss! went in this morning to ring the chicks and they've gone :hmm: :hmm: :censored: :censored: the greeny hen was still sitting on two empty eggs but the chicks have disappeared so all that for nothing :cray:what a start to the season
