    Hi whin was mb's collie cross 7/8 greyhound and 1/8 collie and ran against a 15month old saluki cross so not that big a supprise i might not have the right information so could be wrong yes you are correct its 1/8 colie. so like i keep saying it aint a colie cross its a whipp/grey that being said its still a handy little dog what ever its breeding at last the true breeding of his dog i hoped someone was going to post it.     i also used to lamp with the striker mounted on the gun but since i have started walking further over the permission i found it much easier to scan with the lamp and have the rifle on the sling. first night i done this i lost one of the leupold turret covers which is a pain, it must of unscrewed itself while rubbing against my back.

    i do all of my fox lamping on foot. i use a striker scope mounted lamp to scan for a fox, if i see 1 i switch off the lamp , put the rifle down on the bipod and attach the lamp to the gun. from seeing the fox to having the lamp mounted on the gun and getting down onto the bipod takes about 10 seconds.

    for the money the leupold vx-111 range are great.

    in my local rfd they are sending back a t3 varmint in .243 for the second time as it doesnt group, he also told me tikka have changed the type of steel they are using for the barrels.

    now that is what you call a beautiful fox what time in the morning was he shot at? i have only ever shot 1 fox in daylight.

    if i was you on the form i would write the rifle will be used for vermin,ground game , fox and deer then all the bases are covered. definately add that you will be fitting it with a sound mod as for reloading it all depends on how much the ammo is round you but when i start reloading i should be saving in the region of £1 per bullet.

    nice shooting foxhunter, looks like a head shot. do you also use the sticks when you are out lamping at night?

    very good martin the past couple of outings i have found the foxs are just not responding to squeeling. could it be because they have other things on their mind

    well according to the maintenance sheet i was given at the time of purchase for the t8 since the t8 is not strippable the method i use is the way the t8 should be maintained.

    i have never cleaned mine out, all i do is give it a squirt with wd40 in both ends every time i use it then stand it on a piece of paper towel till the next time i use it. i have no idea how you could clean it out though. If any one is interested border barrels have a stainless steel version of the t8. excellent looking mod

    thanks for the replies, i was speaking to a guy in border barrels today and i mentioned that i thought the vixen was in cub and he said that one of his mates shot 1 last month that was showing to be full of cubs.

    yes it was rather cold i actually thought she may of been in cub and that was why she looked so fat. could that be a possibility?

    headed out last night for a shine to see if i could come across a fox. unfortunately for this vixen it hung around a bit too long. i decided last night i would venture a bit further over the permission and see what it was like. while walking it sounded like i was walking on broken glass as there was a nice frosting on the ground and the moon was shining bright. i spotted this vixen around 150 yards away sitting at the side of a wood but couldnt make it out properly so stalked in a bit closer to get a nice clear shot. this was the only fox i had seen probably due to all the noise i was making.

    it was borders gunroom. another option i have is to get it rebarelled in 243 as 2 rfd's said this was possible.

    i do agree that if i was only going to be using it for fox i would just stick with the 22-250 but later this year i will be starting to do some deer stalking. thanks for the input jamie g

    thats a really good question , i really am perfectly happy with the 22-250 but more than anything i just fancy a change i suppose. ballistically with lighter bullets the 243 is a flatter shooting round so is still perfect for fox but i am wanting to get into reloading and the 243 has a huge range of bullets to choose from. i was in the gunshop yesterday and was told that they would give me £350 for the bare rifle or £450 with the mod .

    i had thought about it cheater but unfortunately i really dont think i could find a decent nv dedicated unit for £1600.
