  1. another vote for the tx here too, although i swear by 177 in pcp i would go for 22 in spring as i find them smoother a less twangy, good luck choosing
  2. nice rifle that,i find that the smaller bunnies bounce about even with a clean kill where as the bigger ones just drop.good luck with the leg.
  3. my s400 loves 4.52 im not 100% but i think 4.53 are only good in a few rifles.we tried 4.53 in my mates theoben evo and our thumbs where nearly bleeding after pushing them in)
  4. lovely pics,i dont think much will be about in the way of quarry though.
  5. another way to do it is to buy some kebab sticks and pace out and put them in at certain distances.if shooting at night put some reflective tape on them.it works quite well, but not as good as a laser range finder
  6. i would take mine but i would end up falling over them ha
  7. as far as im aware the rowan one is the only one.i have one on my s400 its a brilliant bit of kit, worth every penny.
  8. i reckon the simmons should serve you well,as for the ir i changed my scope some while back and havent missed it at all.i found that it worked against me if anything as it sort of messed up my night vision when looking around after useing it.good luck with the eye test though
  9. my mate had one in 177 and i borrowed it on a few occasions, absolutley lovely to shoot/quite heavy but once in your shoulder it wasnt.the only thing that was a slight issue was the noise as it had a fair crack to it and i think a silencer might unbalance it a little.but overall a real nice bit of kit.
  10. thanks for the help chaps, ive got him looking at damper mounts now too
  11. just wandering if anyone here owns a theo evolution as my mates just got his today in .22 and was told jsb heavies.but after nearly a full tin they wasnt grouping the best.i generally go with lighter pellets in springers/gasram and heavy in pcp so im thinking standard jsb might be better.but would rather hear from others that have one for some advice on which to try next. by the way the rifle is absolutley lovely,it shoots as smooth as you could ask for and is very well balanced.im really impressed by the quality of it.any help would be great cheers jason
  12. ive done the same thing really,i asked around a few places and the first place i tried gave me a phone number to speak to the boss the rest where no sorrys, but when i rang the boss up later in the evening he was delighted and said come round and see me and bring your rifle.at the time i was out with our friends horses so i went straight to his from there so no rifle. i had a look around and it was clear he was overrun with them, he must of said 3 or 4 times have you got your rifle i said no as its 8pm now i came straight here he said come and go as you please.then one afternoon i was at his an
  13. its a hawke 5400 im well impressed with it. alfred hitchcock the birds ha you would think so looking at it.and to think i was being nice not shooting it b***y thing.
  14. i just treated myself to a rangefinder so thought id go and try it out.i had the first one at 35 yds standing the second at 31 yds kneeling number 3 was at 25 yds and number 4 was at 35 off the bipod,i had a fifth one but it was munched by a crow, as i watched the crow land i thought to myself theres no point in shooting him as hes not bothering me or the landowner so i let him sit there for a couple of mins before something spooked it and it took flight.it wasnt untill i went to retrieve the rabbit i realised i should of shot the littl g*t ha,hed removed the head and left the ribs showing.any
  15. yep ive got one from the above, its a brilliant bit of kit. i use mine single shot for targets and just pop the mag in for hunting.i cant rate them enough.
  16. my s400 it always hits what i aim at
  17. Yes thats exactly the results i was after,i didnt think i would get such good groups as the jsb but theyre actually better. And they pack a serious punch too im well chuffed with them.
  18. sorry about the pics,my pc wont let me upload the bigger versions ha
  19. i thought id do a little comparison test, ive been using jsb exacts 177 for quite a while and have taken quite a few rabbits and pigeons with them.but on the odd occasion ive found that a rabbit will have chance to bolt back to its hole even with a hole through its head!so i thought id try some heavier lead hopeing that they wont drill straight through like the jsb.first i tried crossman premier ultra magnums but the target looked like it had been shot with a shotgun,so i bought some weihrauch magnums which are 10.6 grains compaired to jsb at 8.4 grains.i gave the barrel a few pull throughs fir
  20. ive got to agree its not a hw,but then its not hw price either
  21. i cant comment on the xs20 but i have an smk b19 in 22 which is a cracking rifle for the money,i bought it to get back into shooting and money was tight. i used it for targets for a while to get used to it and to make sure my shooting was good enough, then i took it down the field and shot a few rabbits with it.i then had some cash available so bought myself an s400 so my 11 year old started useing the smk.he could hit extra strong mints at 25 yds with it(not every shot but he hit more than he missed) ive now bought him a bsa scorpion t10 so the smk is just sitting there but im not going to sel
