Thankfully, I was only 7 and my sister was only 4, so we don't have absolute crystal clear memories of it. My sainted mum, on the other hand....... My Ma would have had a nervous breakdown and never recovered I reckon It's like something out of a James Herbert novel I do have a memory of it being something like the opening sequence here....

I'll tell you a true story about mice..... and I swear this is true ! When I was a boy, we lived in Australia. Latest candidate to declare is John Rees Evans. Saw him on TV just now, and I've got to say......I like this fella ! There's been a couple of daft stories about him, but he said he sees UKIP supporters as "freedom fighters" that should be mobilised against "the enemy". I think he tried to show the many sides of a complicated issue, but on the whole he failed. It's not balanced journalism, for instance, to apologise to a Syrian woman, who had gained illegal entry, in the hope of getting the rest of her family in, too. A couple of times he stated that he loves his country, and said that dissenting voices should have a right to speak....but in a whole hour, he only had one such voice on his programme.

The French authorities plan to disperse the transients among several better equipped camps - maybe not luxurious, but with running water, heating etc - better than kipping on a pallet in the mud, you would think ? All the transients have to do, in return, is register. Which means identifying yourself......which means you would have to seek asylum in France.......which means being exposed as an economic migrant....which means you would be deported back to whatever 5hithole you came from..... ........i'm not expecting them to queue in an orderly fashion !
