  1. Any support you can use in the situation is good, fence post, back back, etc, i try where ever possible to shooot prone... this increases the chances of sucess, So is a must in my book when you can have the option... Snap.
  2. no probs mate, you could just use a second loop from the second aft mooring and your sorted, stern to wind will always end in disaster, Snap.
  3. callum. as you say there is a river outlet there also, a good way of making sure that the aft of the boat doesn't face to the incoming sea mouth, is to place an anchor or smaller mooring about 15ft behind the boat and keep aft moorer to upstream river.... and then always moor by aft first to ensure bow comes to forward mooring, if you get my drift.... this way no large waves will flow down river if its sheltered.... something for you to think about at least.. Snap.
  4. Watched it the last evening mate, unreal, looking at all differing perspectives of battle scenarios, thought the first was brill, looking forward to the second installment........ Snap.
  5. http://www.redding-reloading.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=19:type-s-die-chart little reading for ya.
  6. you can precisely get the oal you need with competiton dies, and adjust by .001 increments... they are more precisely spec'd than an ordinary die, and some have carbide parts, the internal floating sleeve ensures or is meant to ensure the run out is kept to a minimal... hope this helps...
  7. both the manaul scales and the digital scales are accurae to one tenth of a grain, i used both balance beam and digital scales, And have choosen digital scales to speed up the process.... and i have no accuracy issues its all down to how often you recheck the throwing weight and take maunfactures instructions to task..
  8. Agree with coldweld above, 6.5x55se is a great round, as is the .243, but just to throw another into the mix 7mm-08 would be one to look at, And for those that say the .243 isn't upto the job, i say it is in the right hands, i've seen plenty shooters with larger calibres fire at deer several times and not complete the task effectively... Snap.
  9. Fair play to you martin, So many just wanna sit by a fester after being laid off work, i hope it provides you with a solid future, Snap.
  10. Well i'm sure the kid would be thrilled with you As a soon to be dad having the mindset, As long as any child is healthy it's all that ever matters, i just hope your childs healthy And grows up not having the same narrow minded views as yourself... Snap. yeah mate i was being 100% serious besides all my recent ancestors were human so i don' have to worry about a ginger child. hmmmmmm Well pity the poor child cannot choose his father....!!! i'm thinking your not that old, but i hope to god the child gets the mothers brains cause its fooked if it has your genes..
  11. its gives a true reading of a measure of length ian, as when checking with vernier to the tip the ballistic tip may tend to be a little longer or shorter hence throwing of the overall measurement, the base to ogive will give a consistant reading of length, and you can then test the length after production, if not using a comeptition die, and batch by length, this will give you an extra edge on accuracy also...

  13. As above i had the nut type, but thought it was a bit fiddley, i now have the stoney point one which bolts onto the vernier caliper itself, It does show you just whats happening your rounds,

  17. valkerie, rifles built mine when dave was still working at SYSS, but nearly starting out on his own, it has a border barrel on it, the only 2 rifle smiths i hear mentioned reg, are neil mc killop, or dave from valkerie, i spent many months researching this and narrowed it down to both these chaps, But dave is the one i ended up going for, As i liked his quick replies, and his approach to the build, A no nonsense guy, who i could highly recommend, And his work is second to none....... he will tell you whats worth doing and whats not, And no doubt that saved me on the £££££
  18. I notice a few issues which i don't think you have mentioned.... After problems started, did you try a new batch of brass...? Is the gun a factory standard chamber, or a new custom barrel maybe... with tighter spec throat....? is the brass has been fired alot in another rifle you may start to notice the bolt etc, difficult to close, as the brass is flowing to fill the difference in throat dimentions.. this will require a shoulder bump die... Have you checked concentricity of the brass itself...? As this would cause major flyers.... concentricity of the bullet head its
  19. Such a sad loss, but my thoughts also go to the specialist diving unit, Its a grim sight they came across, and being an ex recovery diver i know only too well what the have and will go through with such a sight... thinking of everyone whos envolved in the incident...
