  1. I didn't care one f****n bit about it mate. Just the kids feelings. Just being honest!
  2. My kids loved it and it survived to a ripe age. 13 I think. Otherwise I would have had itput it to sleep to be honest. It had just about every vice going. But we just retired it at 2 years old and kept it as a comic. It had a dozen nicknames, thick head ,dog wonder, arsehole. It wasa character to be sure.
  3. Have you still got serama banties Moll? I bought some lovely birds from you, very cheaply about 15 year back.
  4. He was just trying it on 600 quid. No way on earth would he get that. I take your point about the man holding the lead that's fair and no offence ,but the pup wasn't right mate . It wasn't wired up correctly. He and his mates didn't work so, they poached full time. I think Blue once caught over 100,rabbits single handed in one night. He met his death in the jaws of a pit bull he bumped into when he escaped his pen.
  5. Have you heard of the Minshaw strain of lurcher? He was an old man when I met him, he's very likely dead now. He had a famous stud dog called Blue about forty years back. I bought a pup from him out of a daughter of Blue back to Blue himself. Anyway, the point is he showed me a scrapbook of pages and pages of deer and hares he had caught with his dogs. Some very naughty stuff too. He probably had hundreds of photos. He didn't know me from Adam and he showed me all this incriminating evidence. Daft! I could have been a police informant or a even a cop myself. By the way the pup was crap, it wa
  6. My son holds the family record... 28 and a half ferox brown trout. It had a head like a bucket.
  7. All the hours I've put in I should have got a biggun, but the best I've had was only 20 and a half pound. Oh well that's fishing. Funny enough I hooked a big, big salmon a few weeks back I only had it on for 30,seconds. I saw its tail it was a cracker. It fought like a whale. Adrenalin was going apeshit. Next season I'll get the b*****d.lol
  8. What's your best sea trout Mack? I've had two 12s and one 13 pound. The 13 I got on the fly, first cast. Second cast I caught a 7 pound trout. I went home after that and retired that fly. Lol
  9. You realise that photo is incriminating evidence?lol
  10. Bloody hell mate that beats me. Me and two mates had 120 odd sea trout once but no salmon. Some haul mate. Well done. How did you carry them? We used to reckon 3 grilse for every salmon. That's changed now, there's mores salmon than grilse. Crackers. One year EVERY grilse we caught were net marked. It's like an obvious black line on the back and sides of the fish. Like a thin, black bruise. The fact that they were all net marked and all small demonstrates that there must have been miles of Gill nets on the migration routes. The bigger grilse were landed but the smaller ones squeezed
  11. Ditto. Absolute freaky weird shit. Occasionally they would have high kicking dancing girls which made me interested even when I was a kid. Especially the ones with the French knickers.lol
  12. It's not even 'we' mate. Most of the salmon farms are owned by foreigners...Norwegians especially. Same as the gas and oil, sold off to foreign companies. Don't get me started, I as predictable as Wilf is on his hobby horse.
  13. Yes I've spent much of my life pursuing Salmo Salar, the king of fish, mostly legally. About ten per cent of salmon ascending a river weren't actually hatched there. They just get lost. We used to catch a fair few salmon with a different look to them. They were a bit rainbow trout looking, hard to describe. But we called these Derwent salmon. Guys who fish a lot of different rivers can look at a salmon and tell you which river it is from . A bloke I knew was jailed for presenting a salmon of 36 pound to a fishmonger, claiming he had caught it on a local river. The fishmonger could se

    Snow

Not a lot of snow expected according to the met office, but minus temperatures. If you can get some windscreen wash which won't freeze its well worth it. Mine froze today. So I'm buying stuff tomorrow which won't freeze at _ 20. Traffic Scotland is a good site to keep an eye on.
  15. No, "those in the know", are dead against hatcheries. And opposed to genetic mixing. But I went to a presentation by the chap who cleaned up The Tyne and made it one off the best rivers in the country. He said he had deliberately broken all the rules, begged and borrowed spawn and hatchlings from any river who would give or sell him them. He said look at the result.. a strong spring summer autumn and winter run. Now one of the few rivers where you could actually expect to,catch a fish . When you point this out to the boffins they simply won't accept it. Like those who were determined t
  16. Yes but salmon stocks are critically low. They are finished. I don't think they will ever recover.Global warming, pollution, salmon farms where they pick up sea lice, factory trawlers hoovering up everything. My mate caught a sea trout with 27 sea lice on it. It could only have picked that level of infestation from passing salmon farms. It was lethargic and pitifully thin. There's too much stacked against them mate.Numbers have not just steadily deteriorated. They have fallen off a cliff. The Environment Agency is weak, toothless and corrupt. Really sad for future generations.
  17. Paul Whitehouse is the experienced angler. Bob is the novice and he plays up to that. Paul is intense and takes it seriously. I just about wet myself when Bob whacks a ghillie over the head with his rod. Paul lies to think he's a great caster but like everything in sport , it's all about levels. He's not really that great tbh. When fly fishing ,either spey or overhead , the rod should stop abruptly at around a gradient of two o clock. Paul stops the rod at 5 o clock, so he loses a lot of tension/ spring in the rod. I love the scenery, the chat and the music more than the fishing.
  18. First time I've tuned in. Worth a watch if you've never seen it. Bob steals the show for me. Whitehouse is a bit bossy for me.
  19. Billy b*****d Cotton and his big band. Wakey, Wakey! Saturday night at 6. Purgatory.
  20. I checked put the derivation of the word gaudy mate. It's a middle English word, in use before Gaudi came on the scene. It does seem to fit his style though.
  21. I Wish I was A Fishermen..brilliant sound and lyrics.
  22. It's strange how each generation is loyal to its own music. We must miss out on so much by only listening to the songs we are familiar with. The only stuff I can't get into Jazz. Just don't get it. I can't get into The Smiths either. I can enjoy some rap,but the majority of it is bollox imo. But as has been said, its all subjective.
  23. Didn't know that. Cheers.
  24. I love lyrics. They are another form of poetry. When they gave Bob Dylan the Nobel prize for literature, it was thoroughly deserved. I can't believe the creativity of some artists. One of my favourites is Peter Green from the original Fleetwood Mac.He taught himself to play, became one of the greatest guitarists in the world and wrote spine chilling lyrics. He seemed to have that self destructive side to his nature too. Ebay McColl's Dirty Old Town, never fails to get to me. That song is the story of my life. Nobody sang it better than Shane.
