  1. Now don’t you knock chilli. I’ve felt very close to him since he saw my fish belly white B cup bitch titties and corpulent beer overhang  , at Brighton last year. Mmmmmmmmmm...........
  2. There's some food for thought there charlie. Very interesting...........all I need now is...........................a tellietubbie!.........which one though?....... :11:
  3. Yep, it was a good one last year, think I'll be there tomorrow as my bitch seems to have finished her season now......
  4. I'm surprised at a Frenchman taking that stance.......what happened to vive la chasse?
  5. I was thinking about this some more in the early hours of this morning. It occurred to me, that the fact that I’m still messing with this bitch, and also that she’s still very keen on training exercises, is probably a sad reflection on the relatively little proper work she’s had. This bitch will be 2 years old next month! When does the training stop? When I think back on my past 3 lurchers, I just got them through the basics to a point I was happy with, then started to think about starting them. In every case I’d stopped messing about with “football field” training by about a year
  6. Lots of praise. I think you’re right, however she does seem to really enjoy the structured training. Now I’ve cut the retrieves right back she’s constantly pestering me to get the dummy out of my pocket unless there’s something more interesting to do, in her case the only thing more interesting is hunting live game. Spot on, that’s the impression I have, her behaviour suggests possessiveness. Now that sounds very interesting, I can imagine it working well on some breeds, I imagine my old GSD bitch would’ve loved it……..but it might be a bit risky with a dog that’s 50
  7. I feel a bit giddy and sick pickaxe.....but I don't know if it's just anxiety and excitement......or the cans of Tetleys smoothflow...........
  8. I'm a socialist by birth, upbringing, inclination and probably postcode. But I've never voted Labour because all the interests I've ever had have been fieldsports and/or countryside related. And after all the ranting and raving and anguish there's been on these various sites since last September, I find it hard to believe that there's anyone interested in fieldsports, who won't go out and vote for the only party that's shown the slightest inclination to overturn the ban.....the tories.
  9. Well I asked for advice and I got plenty of it, so here’s an update.... I’ve started ignoring her impromptu retrieves, and telling her to “leave” sundry objects. She was a bit confused and sulky over this, and is still apt to do it to try and get attention, but I’ll persevere. When it comes to the actual retrieve training, the positioning technique that’s worked very well with this bitch over the last 3 weeks or so has been the “back to the hedge” trick. Because she does tends to come back with the dummy at a fair lick and this often results in her steaming past me. With a nice pri
  10. After 20 years a smoker, I gave up 1 November 2002, (on willpower alone), because it suddenly occurred to me that I might not be immortal. Since then I haven't had a single cigarette, so it might help you recent quitters to hear how I’ve got on............. Well, the benefits have been massive, as follows: I can't relax. I can no longer practise any form of angling that involves sitting down, or even staying in the same place, for more than 30 minutes. My concentration is so bad that I can hardly read fiction any longer, (had to sell me Plummer books ), it now takes me
  11. Don't pay that Injun' any mind reload. Just so long as you fished them there vibraxes upstream AND dry, you weren't doing no wrong...........
  12. Tales from the Country This week in Tales from the Country, Tony Francis takes a look into the world of rabbits. Tony goes out in the field with a company called Evergreen Rabbit Control, who take a traditional approach to the problem of rabbit numbers. Rather than gassing the animals, they use ferrets, dogs, long-nets and rifles to try and keep on top of the population. It's a twenty-four hour day, 365 day operation. Tales from the Country Episode Thirteen on Thursday 21 April at 7.30pm on ITV1 London It's not on in all ITV Regions. However if you have Sky, it's on channel
  13. Because they don't want to give us the opportunity, and they've got the perfect excuse, no doubt they'd cite concerns about security/terrorism etc.
  14. After Brighton, but before the ban came in, I remember reading a post on smoochers from someone who appeared to be in the know, to the effect that we wouldn’t be seeing anymore mass demonstrations because they were simply too expensive to organise. And the election campaign strategy of Tony Blah and Co seems to be about “meeting the [fake] people” and “avoiding the [real] people", so there’s probably not much chance to rally last minute support for ad hoc protests. I haven't heard of any from the CA or noticed any in the media election coverage. I reckon both sides are waiting on the
  15. I saw one last year locally, brindle but with that soft "Beddy X" type coat. Nice looking sort of dog too. It was supposedly a 1st cross Beddy X Grey, but I had my doubts.
  16. One Swallow don't make a summer, but.......... I saw one on Saturday, two on Sunday, so I agree, summer must be here......
  17. I’m in a very similar position. So when all this kicked off I got a copy of the legislation from the Internet, http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/acts/ac...04/20040037.htm and I’ve worn the print off studying it since. Rabbiting without permission is an offence under the Hunting Act. So if you’re caught, the offence falls into same category as if you were caught running Hare, Fox, or Deer. What it boils down to on the “search and seizure” section is………the copper can “seize and detain” your lurcher and your van, if he reasonably believes that they may be used as evidence, or that the
  18. Very well put Chris, in both posts. I wonder how many of us are similarly affected, waking at odd times, day dreaming in the car or while exercising the hound, staring off a 1,000 yards past the telly of an evening? With that “there’s storm a comin’” feeling? Here’s hoping something good happens on 5 May...........
  19. cheers reload, I'll watch out for that, a pity cos she does well on it, and no splats, or hyper behaviour either.
  20. James Wellbeloved Turkey & Rice, (burns looks pretty similar, including the price.... ). Plus tripe or rabbit or whatever else mixed in.
  21. Well thanks for the advice all, there's a few things to think about, and some to try, in your responses. Lamper you hit the nail on the head saying she's often calling the retrieving shots, I've tried the ignoring, but not active discouragement yet, but I certainly will now. I've certainly tried "ambush" and "back to the wall" retrieves, but as someone once said of collie lurchers, ...."the brains of a man and the ways of a woman"......she's wise to most of my tricks now. I'm certainly enjoying my lurcher Charlie, though as you said elsewhere, they can have you tearing your hai
  22. mmmmmm cracking trio. They do have that same "look" as breeze's lovely bitch.
  23. Inspired by one of R Lass’s Birdwatching mags, I’ve been trying my hand at “digibinningâ€. Crap results, but I saw a couple of ducks…………
  24. I think Lamper and breeze will understand what I mean about her retrieving, she let herself down that night, maybe cos there was another dog present, but it wasn't in her face or owt, so.... If I run away fast, she follows, but usually stops short. She'll certainly carry a rabbit on the lead, but when she actually catches a live one, it's usually in a place where it's a tad inconvenient to bugger about with training...... She's brought several rabbits right to hand. She's messed about with several more rabbits til they're a bit dead on delivery. If there was another dog
