  1. There were plenty on the showground when it was held at Harewood LB. As for lurcher events, it says in this weeks CMW that the NLRC will be doing demos and running "various competitions", but no details.
  2. R Lass is well addicted to it now, and is doing pretty well she reckons.
  3. Thanks very much Snelly, I'll really look forward to that. fellman, I'd love a pair of black eyed whites, and might even consider enduring the bumming for them , (after all there's a first time for everything...but fred can't watch as I'm a shy boy :11: ). But the difficulty lies, I'm afraid, in persuading the Missus. Who wears the trousers? I hear you say......well........errm.....
  4. With a Birthday approaching, I've been avoiding buying stuff like hunting books and videos recently. However, my Missus is so set against ferrets in our family, that sadly I felt 100% safe to invest £20 on the recent Ferrets and Ferreting DVD by Simon Whitehead. Before I continue, I should say that I'm a complete novice so far as ferreting is concerned. I've been out with ferreters the odd time, but they were always an accessory to get a run for the lurchers, so I've never seen it done "properly". I've never kept my own ferrets either. However in typical "armchair" fashion, I've read the
  5. You've surpassed yourself with that post Moll, superb.........
  6. There's some good info for you to sift through on this thread mate... If you want me to put any pics up of the bitch in question, just let me know and I'll give you my email.
  7. Not that my opinion's worth jack shit like, but you seem well happy with her, and she certainly looks very well put together, really caught my eye, and is certainly long backed for her height. Having seen Breeze's racy bitch in the flesh and in pursuit on the field, I'd say a male equivalent of Purdey might be a good sire for a litter out of yours....
  8. I've been waiting on news of my Sister, she uses train, tube and bus every morning. Couldn't get through on her mobile, just a continous tone. Just had a text saying she's OK.......phew
  9. Hi Hawkeye I earn my living in the Electricity Supply industry. At one time I mostly dealt with meter accuracy disputes, and your sort of question came up a lot. In a perfect world with a perfectly insulated tank and an efficient and reliable thermostat , then 24/7 should be OK. In practice I never came across a situation where it worked like that..... Also bear in mind that if your immersion heater is 3 kWh and a unit of electricity is 7 pence, then if your immersion heater was on only a third of each day, it would contribute over £150 notes to your average 91 day bill..
  10. The pics of Tam are on the “LEARNING CURVE” thread over on Ferreting, I’ve just bumped it up.
  11. Just bumping this thread up so folk can easily find the photos. See Learner's post in "General" regarding his lurcher Tam missing at the moment.
  12. Learner, have you contacted LurcherLass? Also, could someone move a pic from the ferretting thread to this one?
  13. I've had 2 or 3 goes scoring around the same, I can't get to level 5 either, what do you need to score to go up? , Would I be cheating if I had the Collins guide open next time.... I'll get R Lass to have a go she should do better..........
  14. @ CharleC, (after an earlier @ doxhope). Must be me hormones playing me up, think I'd better slap another HRT patch on and bugger off down the pub........... Thanks for sharing it though.
  15. Aye but it's a bit of a bugger for the rest of us! :11:
  16. I reckon it’s where you give passing 4X4’s a nod, a smile, a friendly wave, then carry on with whatever you and your dog(s) were doing..... As opposed to being chased across the midnight stubble by 2 blokes in a Landrover Discovery, then hiding out on the gorse bank in the “recovery position” while trying to get your breath back and wondering whether to phone for the air ambulance...... :11: Later sneaking back to the car via the “scenic” route, accompanied by a confused lurcher who’s probably thinking…..“W.T.F? I haven’t even had a run at owt yet!”......... So they tell
  17. Cheers Brummy. I really, really, wanted to ask the breeding.... ...but I was afraid to look unfashionable........ He looks a grand pup, best of luck with him.....
  18. Asking “what cross is it mate?” is SO passé these days...........do try and keep up........... ...... Sound looking pup.......I've always liked collie crosses too...........
  19. O yes....... .........pretty please. LB you have PM.
  20. Cheers chilli, but I don't think so, I'd struggle for content.
  21. I don’t fish like I used to, I just don’t seem to find the time lately. But I’ve done all sorts of fishing, coarse, game and a bit of sea. For sheer sport, I reckon flyfishing in warm saltwater takes some beating, but that’s just a holiday thing, (if I’m lucky). Back home then, it’s a toss up between river flyfishing, or trotting a float down a river. I’ve done more flyfishing in the last few years, but obsession wise, I was at my worst when I was a Match Angler on the Trent in it’s heyday. One year I took nearly all my holiday entitlement off each Wednesday between June and M
  22. Well I’ve just gone to the bother of logging in to see your Collie X retrieving pics. But I don’t know about grey bits, cos I can’t see owt ‘cept the red X. It’s really not good enough yer know..........
  23. Best one I've been in was when I did a few days in Milton Keynes. Went for a walk in the local wood at lunchtime, they'd actually laid tarmac on all the paths and fenced the trees off in enclosures, (like they were going to run away!). Plenty of maggies and not much of owt else...........
