Done loads more than 12 with the air rifles on other people's areas weve been invited to lol, even though its not theirs to hand invites out for

a nightmare aint they once they start ? you can see four or five hens perched out easy shots .its when you hold fire a minute or two that you notice a couple of cocks just out of the way . i dropped 58 in a lane one night last autumn only a dozen or so was cocks.but addictive sport all the same. Its worse when theres a group of cocks, 1 flies off calling like mad and they all do, cant hang about for long after that lol, most weve done is 12 in one night with the catties but we dont go out for big numbers, need enough to last all season, and dont want to be taking more than we need from t

Hen pheasants are pretty easy to get a big bag out of round here, its the cock pheasants that are a nightmare, the hens happily sit there until you put them down, the cocks allow one shot then their off calling their heads off alerting everything in the area

There surprisingly powerfull, ive got the 1800 lumes and it is bright as fook

Heres the pictures as promised. Hes doing well at his new home and is certainly being looked after. Im happy with my decision in the end

Theres sometimes alot of cover in front of the pheasant that you dont notice when aiming at a silhouette, these can deflet a shot so in some situations its good to use one to find the best angle to get a clear shot, this is all purely hypothetical of course

Law On Catty Shooting ?
youcanthide...BANG replied to marshman's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
Can shoot anything on the general license, but you have to be proficient enough to kill as maiming animals is illegal. Also no lamping of roosting birds, just dont get caught lol -

looks good , how you findin them 105s compared to theraband?. i tried 107s but not very smooth to draw compared to theraband I love them mate, the 105`s are the same as the 107`s just shorter. They arnt anywhere near as fast as theraband gold can be, but theres plenty of power to knock game over

Cheers mate, i will take you up on it, its just this seasons been hard work finding time between other things. The blokes rang earlier who bought the bird from me yesterday, the hawks caught a pigeon on his first flight with him, and by all accounts it was a great flight and he couldnt be any happier with him, as soon as ive got the chance i will put the pics up he has sent to me, so glad he has gone to a bloke who can put the time into it that he deserves

Lovely mate, mine came this morning, camo vinyl on all 3 and coated in polyurethane for friends, hanging of the kitchen cupboards as i type lol
-
Thanks mate, i was suprised at how quick he sold to a good home. I wasnt in a rush to sell him as a good hunting home was the main thing. Moulting him out and waiting for the right person is what i would have done if needed. ye deffintely, i think its gonna be a female harris this time. Its been hard to manage to get anywhere this season but i should be sorted for next season, so can start taking people up on offers

I was gutted mate, i havent taken the decision to sell him lightly, alot of though went into it, he was like a different bird all of a sudden, he was intent on killing the other birds and nothing i could have done would have stopped that, and flying on my own for the rest of however long the bird would have lived was a sad prospect in my mind. Field meets and meeting with friends would be out of the question with him boomeranging off the fist to smash other peoples hawks I think a fresh female is the way i will be heading, or maybe another male, im not quite sure yet. Ive got months to thin

heres my current setup, chunky milbro mk1 and short cut alliance sterling 105 bands. 9.5-12mm steel

Well a bloke came not long ago from a fair distance away to see the bird, hes ended up buying him, Im more than happy with the home he will be going to. He will be flown on his own on the lamp at pigeons and other birds and wont be bothering anybody elses birds. So i guess this is the end of the diary then, hope youve all enjoyed it despite the crap season ive had, thanks
-
The bloke seems spot on, flies a goshawk too, the aviary he will be kept in is nice aswell. Ye it will be a nice change, gutted he has put me in this position but i cant do anything to stop him.
-
It wasnt just when cast flying though mate, my bird grabbed my mates off of his fist. If it happened again then i wouod just accept im cursed and have to put up with it. But for now im always flying with friends so a bird that wants to kill other hawks on sight isnt an option, ive found a cracking hunting home for him where he will be flown on his own just how he needs to.
-
Maybe mate, but then again i will be in the same position with not being able to fly together with friends, i love the cast flying thats why ive had to sell this bird, im absolutely gutted and at the time gobsmacked that he did it, at first i thought it may have been a one off and only did it because it was an unfamiliar bird, but then he did the same to hawkingyorkshires male and hes been flying with that bird all season. I think a fresh male harris next season is on the cards, or maybe a female this time?
-
Unfortunately ive had to make the hard decision to sell the hawk, after flying with hawkingyorkshires male for a season with no incidents mines suddenly decided to try and attack other harris hawks, resulting in almost killing one friends bird after taking him off my mates fist in a head bind, and grabbing hawkingyorkshires male as soon as he saw him. I dont know why he has done it but he is gunning for any hawk. Which has meant that friends are refusing to take their bird out with mine, something which i cant have, ive had a few enquiries already and have turned some muppets away, he will be

Im assuming youve got a short draw length because id expect those speeds to be higher with the ubg bands your using? Are you sure your band length is right for your draw length
-
Thats what i was thinking, dont want to go too big, but not so little that he is uncomfortable in it

Looking to build a next box for an average sized hob, what dimensions would you recommend?
