  6. Yes jimb He could well get displaced by another stronger buck with a not so good Head!In the deer world size isn't everything!
  7. Hmm, may be one of those Hungarian forest stags, they are can be immense!
  8. Sorry mate, going cross eyed on the screen here! Should read Imp Cyl =1/4, Imp Mod =3/4.
  9. Well for certain I'd be using a moderated rifle, being that close to the footpath. The less attention you draw to yourself and activity the better. You don't want some Mumpty calling 999 and saying there's armed people adjacent to the footpath. Some good advice here regarding signage! You could also advise the local Plod you are engaged in Deer control on such and such a day.If someone does take fright, shouldn't be any problems then!
  10. Nice taxidermy job!We don't have that species of Merganser.
  11. Well basically, Skeet =Cylinder,Imp Cyl=1/4,Mod=1/2, Imp Mod =3/4,Full =Full. You should only use steel shot in maximum of Mod -1/2 choke.
  12. The book of the BBC series about Charlie Pirie of the Blair Atholl Highland estate.Good read with loads of photo's and illustrations.Grouse, deerstalking,Hare and Pheasants and Foxing covered.Excellent condition.£15 posted.
  13. You lads are getting some good shots with the camera!
  14. Put it this way,if you were a landowner/ deer guide and you did see a Panther,Lynx or whatever on your land/ stalking ground, would you want to announce this and get all the mindless moron's and press stamping all over your beloved countryside? No, anyone with any sense would keep "Stum" .Say hypothetically, you had accidentally come into conflict with one of these beasts and had to shoot it?Would you really want to explain to the slavering media and the animal protectionists why the "evil" hunter had shot this poor big pussy cat???
  15. Hello ,there's not alot of stalking in Wales really. There's some pockets of deer in various places but very little really. The Forestry Commission Wales is all "In House" and not really friendly to amateur stalkers at all! You'd be better taking a trip down to the West Country. Its not too far and there's a huge amount of deer there.Roe, Sika,Red Fallow,Muntjac. You can't go wrong really. There's a few on here advertising and also on the Stalking Directory.Just look for the reasonable guides and not the money grabbers!Cheers.
  16. I used to go stalking with a guy down the West Country and he was an ex RM who did not like bullshitters! We used to go around the moors in Devon ,Dorset area.He swore to me He had seen carcasses of sheep stashed on top of the high hedges you find in those parts. There's no way a dog could have put them there and the injuries to them were consistent with those a big Cat would inflict. You have got to keep an open mind here!
  17. Their pretty cheap about £30 a set of 5 from Edgar Bros,I believe.I think you can get em from Northallerton shooting supplies?
