I've got a red one and a white "turbo" version. Both have the extension tubes and are running on 2 batteries. The beam of the red one is equal in distance and power to a Lightforce 170, the beam is a lot tighter but the clarity at distance is far superior. I get eyeshine from the very end of the beam and from areas that have revealed nothing with the Lightforce. I use the lamp a lot and can get at least 2, sometimes 3 sessions out of a set of batteries before they need charging. Spare batteries can be bought for about £12 a pair. If you are going to mount it on a rifle, you won't find better,

They're fast enough and can easily catch rabbits but they are meant to open up and they do. They work differently to our running dogs and push through scrub and cover, catching rabbits and flushing them to waiting guns. Opening up allows the hunters/shooters to know where the dog is. I've never seen a pedigree one work but they are meant to work independently, recall isn't a strong suit and hunting up is what they're meant to do. Edited to say: I have seen non ped workers and some Podengos. But never on anything other than rabbit.

Deerhound crosses, the mix is the most important part, hold their own in any company,on any chosen quarry.I prefer the addition of Border collie. In my experience, based on over 30 years graft with the breed,i would own no other type lurcher.Ive seen outstanding lurchers of various breeding, yet the Deerhound types, bred right, with the collie influence in my case, entered right and tested right, have few equals.Ive seen many quality lurchers make duffers because of the kennel they live in,its the same with any lurcher,if its bred from grafters a good kennel will get graft out of the mutt. You've just h

There's a few on here that've seen my dog run. He can run all night if needed and as long as the quarry's there he can take it. I wouldn't say he's got big numbers under his belt. I've got a business to run and a family to please. I can only manège to get out lamping a few times a week. But he's not catching any less than the dogs my pals work.

I'm not aware of that litter, nor do I know any of the people you mention. I take it that the sire and dam to this litter were both well tried singlehanded dogs. If so, I find it incredibly strange that not one of the pups has taken any of the parents traits. If the parents weren't all round singlehanded dogs why were they used to breed this litter? With regards to coming on slowly, you yourself don't enter your dogs until around 16 months and I applaud that. Too many people are trying to rush puppies into work. I'd expect any DH X to be working at that age. My current dog, who is allege

Thing is though, you shouldnt need to add bull to it for it to function as a versatile lurcher. If a 70+lb dog needs the addition of bull in order to function then the dhxgh used is not of sufficient quality to justify breeding from it in the first place. Also if you add bull you will probably reduce speed and add some bulk which may mean that some of the pups lack the length of leg and top end speed to cope well with some of the scenarios where these big dogs can excel. Dont get me wrong I have nothing against bull x, nor do I have any particular bias towards dh over any other cross. But a 7

What do you believe the potential benefits from this breeding to be?

I think a lot of it comes down to the individual and which type of dog they get on best with. I'm breed blind, I'll admit it. I get out with blokes who've got some superb bull x's, they impress me with how well they work, I've seen some relentless saluki types take deer and hare, electric quick whippets hoover rabbits up and collie x's do everything that was asked of them but I wouldn't want any percentage of these breeds blood in my dogs. They each have traits that I find undesirable. This is just my opinion. Maybe I'm lazy but I like an easy life. I get on best with a deerhound x greyho

In my experience deerhound x's don't require years to mature to be able to work. It's becoming a bit of a THL "fact" that's trotted out be everyone, even those that have never worked this cross or seen one work. (Much like the beddy whippets regularly dropping fallow "fact") They won't and shouldn't be working at 6 months but by 9 months to a year should be having easy lamped bunnies and be wanting to chase. The need for them to grow slowly without undue strain is paramount but they don't need holding back until 18 months before they do anything. My old 1st cross dog was regularly taking fox a

I used to live in Richmond but that never gave me permission to run the deer in the park! I lived on Sheppey, in Minster, near The Oak. I used to drink in The Playa. So I know that you ain't got all of Sheppey because I still know most of the blokes that do a bit there.

There's a couple of bull sh1tters amongst us! Hopefully the bull x lads have seen the light and will be getting proper stuff soon. Send us a postcode and map of your permission and we'll pop down and let you know if its any good! Lol!!

You ain't got all of Sheppey!

It's funny just how many people can't tell the difference between a rabbit and a hare, even when they're up close. Good luck when you're in the field!

Deerhound crosses will have longer, flatter feet. Anyone that knows anything will know that, those that have seen very little but read a lot will not. Despite what people on here will tell you, small balled feet don't always make the fastest dogs. It's another example of the Internet and people trying to use it to compensate for lack of experience.

Superstar! That's what you are! I can carry my can of Super Tenants past the Mosque in safety and have a nice snack too.

Where exactly??!!!! This don't happen in Southwark or Lambeth. If you knew the social dynamic of South London then you'd know that. I don't know what you've seen but it aint vigilante muslims. Maybe in Redbridge or somewhere like that. In the video the muslim patrol pick on a couple of pissheads and a bloke who's taking his pissed missus home. They don't show you the outcome with the posh bird that challenges them. They don't stop a couple of white blokes on their way to the pub or a couple of black kids smoking a joint, because they know they'll get weighed in. They are melts. If it's "n

I like it. It's got a much tighter beam than the Lazerlite and the filters are crap but it lasts for ages on a charge and doesn't fall far short of the Lazerlite for distance.

I've just got back from A&E with 12 stitches!

She's fine. She got out of the box in the motor and climbed up onto the parcel shelf. Both the dogs looked at her and ignored her!! I've put her in that big hutch on her own until that court turns up. She gave me a little nip when I put her in the hutch but it was nothing.

I've got a Lazerlite, a Lightforce 170, a Clubriter and I've just bought a Nightmaster 800. I bought the extended tube for the Nightmaster so it now runs on two 18650 lithium ion batteries. In a side by side comparison there is no difference between the beam of the Nightmaster and the 170. I get better eye shine with the Nightmaster and the clarity at distance is a lot better. The dog prefers it as well. The upside is that I bought a pair of spare batteries for £10 but I've yet to run out the originals even over 2 nights. The downside is that the beam can be a bit tight at close range for bu

My dog's got an elegant style when he jumps those tall gates! Lol!! A good mornings sport, it was nice to get the pugs going and let the pup see them at work. She wasn't too much of a liability, I think the little lunge at the Jill was just over enthusiastic play. Lol!! How's that catty working out, Blackstaff? You were hitting well with it.
