  1. I keep my rifles clean . I use a bore snake after every outing , if it’s one shot or 10 . Then after every ( approximately) 20 rounds I do a “Proper “ nylon brush and KG12 , and patch on a jag till spotless. I leave the brush for several minutes in the barrel, breach end and several minutes, muzzle end , because this is where the most fouling occurs. I don’t care if there is mud or shit on the stock or dust on the scope . It’s the barrel that needs care . I also remove the sound moderator after use . Never leave it on your rifle as corrosive particles can deposit in your barrel if you leave if
  2. Nice one Stavross , very generous as usual. I get good results with my .223 with a 50grn Vmax , using Vihtavuori 135 . I would post what measure I use but it’s over what is in the manual, and someone is bound to blow heir face off and then take me to court. ? Tbh I’m doing most of my shooting with the .243 now . I get unbelievable accuracy and better stopping power than the .223 . But like bumpy says it’s louder . But while I don’t want to draw any attention or disturb the locals , I’ve got every right to be where I am and do what I do so they are going to have to put up with the odd bang . Th
  3. Nice one . I went out during the week and it was just too bright . Saw a couple of foxes but they didn’t hang around. I’ve looked at the moon phases and I’m not going to bother Until about the 22nd . Just baiting up til then . I’m loading today , it’s been going very well so far . When are you coming?
  4. What a beast !!! I shot a 20lb fox last week , my pb . What’s your heaviest Ian ?
  5. I have a rule when it comes to kebabs…….. I must be pissed and waiting at the taxi rank .
  6. They had been under suspicion before . But got lawyers involved to shut the accusations down . If they had just cut while they were ahead, then this wouldn’t have happened . But they were greedy , and ultimately stupid .
  7. That cheered me up . Made me realise that my life could be a lot worse .
  8. The problem with stupid people is they think everyone else is stupid. I had a Saturday job on a market when I was a kid and I could tell the weight of fruit and veg before I put it on the scale. And if you are used to weighing fish you would have a good idea what weight to expect. So when the fish were 8lb !!!!!! over what was expected, is it any wonder questions were asked ? Like i said “ stupid “. A couple of dumb, greedy “mutha f@ckers” who are going to be looking at maybe paying back some of their previous prize money hopefully. And probably on the receiving end of a few goo
  9. Saw this T-shirt in a shop and it made me chuckle.
  10. Nice little trip Stavross, and a good result on Charlie considering the bright conditions . Did you have extra chilli sauce on the Kebab ? .
  11. You know I’ve done a bit of modelling in my time …………..welding masks in the screwfix catalogue .?
  12. I was out Friday night and it was literally like daylight with the full moon . Saw loads of wildlife , but no shooting. Great to be out though. ?
  13. What make is the .223 bumpy ? I use 50grn vmax , Vihtavuori 135 in my Tikka .
  14. Thanks for the info . I originally wanted. Tac 20 as a few guys I know have shot them for years . But the guy doing the build came up with different reasons why the prac20 would be better . I will have another chat . ?
  15. From my understanding there isn’t a lot of difference in performance with any of the “Wildcat” variants. I think it’s more a case of the easiest to modify from my existing.223 .
  16. I’ve had a .204 / Tax .20 itch for a while. But after speaking to Steve I think that a .20prac is the way to go for me . The 6.5 creedmore is an awesome round , but I know I’m just a point and shoot guy ?
  17. Let us know you get on with reloading for the 204 . I’m in the process of building a practical .2O with Steve Bowers . Using my old .223 as the donor .
  18. Can’t beat your own loads mate . Bit of an expense getting set up but , cheaper and better performance. I don’t know about you but I find it relaxing. Word to the wise bumpy but stock up a bit because all the ammo companies are at full capacity doing military stuff . So nothing coming in this country for a long time . Pretty much what is in the country is all we have got for a year or two .
  19. I’ve got a few Norma , Lapua , Federal and Winchester Brass . It’s all a bit of a mix match . Doesn’t seem to make much difference to the accuracy I’m getting. I’m very happy with those Blitzkings you sent down Si . Certainly doing the business . Maybe overkill on Charlie though .With my . 223 loads you hardly noticed a hair out of place but the 70 grn blows them to bits . But dead is dead .
  20. Running low on ammo so did a bit of reloading from scratch , deprimed case length trim , cleaned , primed , powder weighing, and seating . A very satisfying and enjoyable way to spend a rainy afternoon. ?
  21. You did well , I’ve been busy too . But less and less now . I got access to a new patch today . I went to see the farmer and asked him how he felt about me knocking foxes over , “ I’d rather you got rid of all these f@cking deer “. I said “I’ll see what I can do “?
  22. No point antagonising the old girl . TBH I didn’t want the stinking thing anywhere near the place . It would have been under a hedge normally, but I am a bit of carp fisherman at heart . ?
  23. My wife would have gone mad if I’d have brought it in the house . He was a real “ stinker” too ?. I brought the scales down to the side porch , Charlie was in a bag and I weighed it there . Mrs didn’t even know anything about it . ?
  24. It depended which side I leant towards the left leg was more 19.5lb and if I put more pressure on the right or even pressure of both legs it was 20lb , so I leant towards the right ?
