  1. blue pocket rocket how are yours bred?
  2. I'm not slating your idea at all mate but surely it wont be similar to a saluki? Apart from the obvious high levels of stamina i cant think of any other similarities?? I'm not saying it couldnt make a good cross either cos i can see the obvious benefits a dash of huskie blood could possibly bring to the table but theyre completely different tpes of dog imo.
  3. nothing wrong with chihuahua crosses lads. My ones had a few rabbits and a big rabbit too
  4. or a greyhound to an african wild dog!
  5. Love the look of that dog, you ever had him out on the lamp? Yeah, he lamps well too. Not as fast top end as my other lurchers but agile as a cat and turns on a penny. He can everything a good lurcher can do pretty much. Handy little dog then, how tall is he?

  7. just waiting for the abuse about breeding from unproven lines now
  8. yes he's still a full male. I was told the mother was chorkie which i saw her and she clearly was, but the dad was supposedly jrt, i saw him and he was a miniture short legged one. There were 2 pups left(12 weeks old), my dog and a bitch which looked how it was supposed to. Tiny little fluff ball whereas Timmy was already much much bigger than his supposed parents. Its pretty obvious to everyone thats seen him that his sire was a whippet so i think he's from a mixed litter. These are what a chorkie can look like, would everyone agree that my dogs sire is whippet? Timmy
  9. no thanks mate ive sorted one now, cheers
  10. i said ''are you saying my dog couldnt catch a rabbit?'' you said ''are you trying to say it could?'' I think its obvious what you meant by that
  11. They were surprised how quick he was FOR HIS BREEDING whys that so hard to understand? I said you might be surprised cos if you remember, you said he'd never catch rabbits which he is now doing. Infact you went further by saying id made a fool out of myself for claiming my dog could catch rabbits, but rather than just admitting you were wrong youre the one now making a fool of yourself. And before you do your usual and say catching the odd rabbit is no big deal save your breath cos i never said it was.Why you bothering even reading my topics? Just like to read how the dog you described t

  13. This seems to make sense, thats what ill be doing now
  14. cheers for all the advice, all seems sound. I like the bit about getting between the rabbit and its home when i cant find squatters, seems simple but hadnt thought much about it. Ill definitely be waiting for no moon and some cover and wind. Also ill be taking him on his own from now on at least until he seems more confident and less frustrated. Ive already got some ferrets, be working him with them this sunday and hopefully most weekends afterwards. Hopefully the yapping will calm down, i dont think itll ever stop completely if people say all terriers do it but i can only hope. Anyw
  15. cheers, dont seem to be many of them about down here tbh. i know 1 like that ill be trying as soon as the weather sorts itself out. If i can just find some squatters i reckon he'll do well on them fence or hedge although 2 of the 3 squatters that ive slipped him on so far he over shot. Hopefully its just teething problems though
  16. Cheers lads, ill bare it all in mind. Think ive just been a bit too keen if anything. Need to keep reminding myself theres no rush.
  17. Thanks people, yea i have been out twice on a clear bright night and saw nothing as the result. didnt realise how much difference it would make, i do now though. When you say a sounder do you mean a yapper? And yea im hoping he's going to be a useful multi purpose dog. He's always in cover, bolted a fair few so far, he's actually had a couple in cover aswell. Definitely has a half decent nose, ive seen rabbits that he didnt but he always finds his way to where they escaped with his nose. Plus i think he's going to be mainly a ferreting dog, surely he'll be pretty handy in that
  18. Just started my 12 month old on the lamp 2 weeks ago. I've been impressed with with what ive seen so far considering his breeding and peoples opinions on how he'd do but theres one potentially big problem, yapping. A lot of you know what breed he is, hate to keep bringing it up but im wondering if the chorkie in him is causing him to yap? I know whippets entered too early can become prone to yapping aswell so am i hoping in vain that he'll grow out of it? I've tried to stick to squatters and easy runs although i have to admit a few times after seeing nothing after being out walking for
  19. best answer How is that the best answer, on a 100 yard slip the dog will be tiring before getting there Its the best answer cos its the only answer. Read the question properly. Derbylad and Chid have gave you the best answers though, there is a lot of factors to consider when planning a slip as Derbylad said For your dog I would give it short slips all it's life but I slip my deer/greys and pure greys up to 50 yards, is that better for you yea thats better. still nobodys answered about what sort of success rate it takes to keep a dog from becoming disheartened? I understan

  21. No offence mate but you're opinion holds about as much weight as a ballon, you've got a yorkie x chihuahuh x whippet ffs. Wasn't the OP asking for ground to run because he's moved and can't get out anywhere in a thread the other day? why are you thinking about breeding when you've got no permission where you live now????? Yea i dont know if you can read but i did state that i aint been in the game long and didnt claim that my opinion meant anything. Simply stated id see her run and listed her qualities. If you look at what i said about breeding her with a proven dog with good feet no
