  1. Oh right i see, you mean in cover. Still, bet they were happy with themselves. Cunners, do you mean your dog has had them bunnies from cover aswell? Cos if its in the open and they didnt have mixi, then id say your dog has massive potential. Not that i know what im talking about really as far as rabbits are concerned but i have a mate with 2 presa's and they are absolutely massive, powerful, big boned and very muscular powerful dogs, similar in size to a big american bulldog actually, so if you have a dog thats half presa, and catches bunnies in the open, you must be on to something
  2. So do you mean you cover every hole with a net and just let him dispatch them?
  3. Yea he was a piece of piss, didnt really need to break him he was really wary of them at first but now they seem to be best mates. They dont stop playing with each other. tbh i thought he'd want to kill them as thats what he wants to do to any other other species from mice to cattle(need to work on that lol) so i was shocked when he seemed skittish around them
  4. They utilize protein, carbs and fats in the same way as humans then. Fat should be our number 1 source of energy, with the odd bit of carbs thrown in for a boost, whilst protein makes us grow. If you think about it, what would we be eating as cavemen? There wouldnt be fields of potatoes and rice everywhere, nor would there be bread and pasta available. We'd be living mainly on the flesh of animals and fish, ie fat and protein with the odd nut and berry thrown in. Since the introduction of flour we've become overweight as a species and too many carbs are the reason why. Ask yoiur fattest mate
  5. You surely mean a mixi bunny? The amount of stick i got on thl for wanting to run my dog on bunnies was a joke and he's half whippet!
  6. Hi all, I'm just about to enter the world of ferreting with my little whirrier and 2 young Jills. Somebody is showing me the ropes with an adult ferret to hopefully show my younguns what to do. I understand that nets are used to cover the holes and this is usually what catches the rabbit, but i'm getting into ferreting cos i want to see my dog catch rabbits. So my first question is how many holes do i not cover and do i choose a certain type of hole to leave open for the dog? Secondly, love to hear peoples opinions based on previous experience about what they think is an ideal bre
  7. well firstly nobody else has offered and sedcondly i dont know what she did on here but she's done nothing wrong to me and knows a lot more than i do. (which isnt hard i know) stick to this forum, get ye questions or problems up an dont take the humour to heart, better to get 20 opinions off here than 1 opinion off somebody else, take the best bits of advice from everybody an put it all together so it suits you, your dogs an the way you do things, by all means dont fook her off if she has been decent to you, that would be foolish, but dont take everything she or anybody tells you as gospe
  8. And also shes not my mentor lol. shes just given me some ferrets and is gonna show me how to use them. I'll learn what i need to the hard way by getting out all season and finding out for myself

  12. please tell me you aint crobinc ffs lol, i liked you, saying that i liked her till she went all wierd i swear i am not her. just an insane coincidence. i was accused of being her on here before then my ip adress got blocked. i joined the lurcher group on facebook and asked if anyone in kent fancied showing me and my whirrier how to lamp. she replied telling me she has some ferrets i can have and she'll show me the ropes. when i went to pick them up last night she told me she was banned from thl and told me her name and i suddenly remembered being accused of being her.
  13. Took everyones advice and got myself some ferrets. Turns out the lady that gave me them who i met on a facebook lurcher group is the same lady i got accused of being when i first joined this forum! crobin fcuktheban! what a mad coincidence. She was really helpful. We're going rollerblading with all our dogs at the weekend
  14. Looks like im gonna have to go with a collie cross then if thats what theyre using in kent. Dont salukis have much better feet than greyhounds? Would i be sacrificing too much speed if i went collie/grey x sal/grey? Thats if i could find any. need to keep an eye open now. Would appreciate it if anyone knows of any collie crosses coming up from a decent background that they pm me please. cheers
  15. I take it you mean 5/8 grey 3/8 collie? No of any gooduns that might be ready for sale around xmas time?
  16. Nah i'd never slip him on fox, feck that one step at a time lol.
  17. cheers. Youd know best if you work dogs in kent. Collie x with what though? Grey? how exactly are your preffered dogs bred?
  18. Got another newbie question for ya's. How quick is a fox, is it quicker than a rabbit? And how tough are they? Just wondering cos my dogs always chasing them but so far theyve been too far away or right near their dens. A bit worried about what will happen if he catches one. He only slightly bigger if at all.
  19. Nowt wrong with him for rabbiting, has he seen owt, does he show interest He's had 2 from the bushes so far but not in the open. Aint had much of a chance though, came within an inch once before but the rabbit was too near its den. He hasnt seen any proper out in the open. He's definitely got prey drive though, even if he sees one miles away and its got away he'll still run flat out 100 yards to try and find it There you go then pal, you have in your keep a nice little bushing and ferreting dog, a nice accompanyment for when you get your lurcher, good luck we him, get him out there, i
  20. cheers mate. He's a proper funny f****r aswell. If he turns out half decent on the lamp ill get some videos on here
