ive tried the force the fist into the throat, tried making them gag on my finger, tried scruffing them, tried scruffing them whilst slightly shaking and growling, tried shouting no, tried giving them a gentle tap on the nose whilst shouting no. Only thing left for it is to piss all over em

I know, im bored of having this same argument with people. Although There is a vet round my way who ive actually become mates with that feeds her dogs raw meat and bones along with their kibble. She's a bit mental tbh, shes got 3 rescued ex working p***y lurchers (1 with 3 legs) an italian greyhound, 3 chihuahuas (2 with serious mental issues) and something thats looks like a big chihuahua that she doesnt know what breed it is. Knows her stuff though and always reccommends a raw diet to customers much to the annoyance of her colleagues

mate you realise rabbits are the slowest quarry to run? (well over here anyway) they're just agile, you do know that yeah?? the land over here is big and vast, giving the bigger dogs more time to wind up. the person that started this topic said his dog "has started to take rabbits without any training or encouragement and is very game" and you're saying he's onto something because it's half presa, I'm sorry but I don't see anything special about it. and how do you know my dog got lucky? the holes are few and far between, when my jrt got onto the rabbits they all ran away from their holes and k -

I might be be wrong but forgive my ignorance if i am.. are rat's a bit slower than rabbit's i think i have read some thing somewhere before that's rat's can reach a speed of 25mph but rabbit's can top out at 30 + mph..again sorry if i am wrong.. rabbits can go faster than that in this country according to what ive read but maybe im wrong. but rats are defintiely slower. Twice now ive seen fox in full sprint along the farmers field chasing a rabbit and the rabbit actually looked quite a bit quicker in a straight line. Maybe the fox were injured i dont know but someone who runs lurchers round -

That...anti's have a mental disorder . How else could you say with a straight face ( and actually believe ) that a fish is a mouse is a dog is a child. No sane person can equate that. So why try to reason with insanity. The hell with 'em. I agree, i know people that eat meat, tell me hunting is wrong on every level but admit they wouldnt hesitate calling in a pest controller if they had rats in their home

Ausnick I understand big dogs can be athletic and quick, Some sighthounds are huge and are capable of catching literally anything. Your JRT caught those rabbits by getting lucky, according to you and personally i think thats the only way an american bulldog would catch one aswell. Ive seen them run, theyre quick for their build yes but a healthy rabbit would always have a massive advantage, hence why i said it would need to get lucky. They may use them for large game but whatever theyre running and catching must be slower than rabbits. If i started a thread asking peoples advice on lampin -

catch a rabbit with ease? Are you having a laugh mate? Ask j1985. mate you obviously don't get out hunting much so why act like you know what dogs can and can't do??? you're saying his dogs must be impressive because it's size and it can catch rabbits I know of dogs 50-60kg catching rabbits and that's nothing special. your comments irritate me as you are obviously very inexperienced. Youre comment irritates me! /ive stated many a time that im new to hunting but people like you think youre something special for trying to cause a row with me? Congratualtions to you if youre Mr super hunt -
I mean to catch rabbits that have slipped the nets. would you usually go with a beddy whippet or something simliar, collie whippet?

Firstly it's great that you are showing an interest in ferreting/working your dog even if it was a mistake and not your intention but to a dyed in the wool rabbit catcher and countryman it's attitudes like this that I truly dislike and find damaging to the rural way of life. I would love to have read that you're "getting into ferreting because you have a rabbit problem on crops or like the idea of the rabbit being a sustainable food source etc" The thought of bolting rabbits just purely to see your dog catch them doesn't sit well with me and in this day and age we all need to be very caref

You surely mean a mixi bunny? The amount of stick i got on thl for wanting to run my dog on bunnies was a joke and he's half whippet! his bulldog's not your regular american bulldog you see outside the spar on a council estate. i wouldnt care if his AB's were the fastest, most intelligent and agile AB's on the planet, they'd seriously struggle to run a rabbit how do you work that one out dont take much working out does it! Why dont you ask the man that has 2 of them which apparently arent your average council estate AB's? I believe his words were, they'd be left for dust. The qu -

he's had a couple from cover already and come very close 3 times now. This is during daylight when the rabbits have been yards from their warrens, i think hes so small they dont see or hear him coming till he's about 20 yards away. Im sure he'll catch. Pretty much every lurcherman thats seen him has said he looks like a proper ferret dog, so only time will tell now!
