  1. Took my little whippet/guinea pig out lamping with deerhoundlurcherman last night. Was only going to slip him on squatters but we couldnt get anywhere near any of them so we just had to slip him on whatever he saw. 4 slips, didnt see 1 and ran the wrong way, 1 made it to cover and he started yapping and the other 2 had the luckiest escape theyll ever get from a dog! He caught them but only pinned them for a second and let them get away when they struggled. It was a tiny bit disappointing tbh to see him do the hard bit but overall we were well impressed with him. He did everything i thought he

  3. i do still feed him bones as regularly as i can, just need mince in the freezer for when i cant
  4. Thats good to know, he only struggles to shit if i feed him a couple of carcasses without anything else
  5. Not sure I agree with you on that one, I'd have thought a fox was a bit quicker than a bunny? He's not the first person that ive heard say that now. Everything i read said foxes are quicker but from what ive seen they definitely dont appear to be round here
  6. WHY would you think there was the slightest notion of any sense in that theory? If he suggested lead pulling could be cured during excercise by hitting the dog with your penis whilst chanting Abba songs backwards would you have tried it? It makes as much sense.............
  7. Anything up to a couple of weeks normally IMO. You're right about working calming them down though, especially if you don't exercise them when they're not working. A hyper animal like that needs to let off steam I let them in the garden or a room in my house for about an hour a day and they spend most of the time playing with the dog, so they are getting a fair bit of exercise. Is this enough do you reckon?
  8. So would you say that the only difference between feeding minced meat and bone compared to unminced, is the fact the dog would get more mental stimulation?Surely mincing could help with the difestion of bones? As my dog whos only 17tts sometimes almost swallows chicken wings whole, might bite 3 or 4 times before tilting his head back and literally inhaling it!
  9. That is what im doing at the moment, cutting it into small chunks and he does love it that way, its just i dont always get home in time to get to the butchers so id like to have a load of frozen mince as a back up. Only have room for 2 frozen rabbits max
  10. Theres a couple of reasons why i personally want to. The first being freezer space. Dont have room for another freezer and seeing as i have to share mine i cant really keep filling it up with rabbits and carcasses, can condense them down to a fraction of the size when minced. The second being that whenever i give my dog anything more than a mouthful he'll find somewhere to stash it and wont eat it. Ill find out about it a couple of days later when a random place in my house or garden starts kickin right up. He eats whole chicken wings not a problem but not rabbit or carcasses
  11. Anybody mince their own meat and bones? Wondering what grinder to buy to mince my own rabbits including the skin and bones, aswell as the chicken carcasses i get. Wondering whether to go manual or electric and what brand will last longest? Cheers
  12. ive offered my dog minced chicken, tripe, lamb and beef a few times now. Always goes for either the Beef of Lamb. His next favorite seems to be tripe which is strange as he'll take a piece of chicken carcass or a chicken wing over any mince, but doesnt seem interested in lamb or beef ones. Loves a ham bone though Fussy f****r
  13. Touchwood day 3 and still havent been nipped. Must of just taken them a week to get used to me if you reckon it takes about a week.
  14. Foxtails have you tried working the ferret yet? Only ask cos i Just took mine out for the first time today and they never even nipped once which was really strange considering up until yesterday they were climbing all over me biting me to shreds. The spit on the hand seemed to work, but working them seemed to be the best thing ive done, early days still but they seem altogether different ferrets now . One of em looks like she might be half decent aswell, not sure on the other one though, werent exactly encouraging what i say from her today!
  15. Really like the look of the 3/8 5/8 collie/grey. Thats what im after in a few months, or 1/4 3/4 not too fussed. Did you see much earlier magwitch? i see you walking to where id just been earlier on my way back. I see quite a few rats down by the road but the wrong side of the fence for the dog to get at em. First time he's seen any he went mental!
  16. Whats the last dog? and is the black dog 100% whippet?
  17. Im not getting into the chihuahua thing again, Ive explained a hundred times that we added chihuahua blood to our line for bite, power, stamina and speed. Not my fault everyone else is blind to these obvious qualities. But nobodys actually explained why they think Presa blood shouldnt be added other than Bull blood is better. If his head was set on it no matter what then why would he bother starting the thread? he explained hes not from hunting circles and wanted experienced peoples opinions, which theyve given him but havent explained why. Personally id love to know why a bull would be far su
  18. I agree with what youre saying, you will get ripped on here wether you like it or not but as ive discovered myself thats the way it is and its not gonna change. But im sure you joined this thread to give us all a bollockin for not answering the mans questions without arguing amongst ourselves?? But thats exactly what youre doing now, gone completely off topic
  19. Thank you for you insight after a month on the forum. To the OP, the dog has done nothing to merit breeding from, its make up is nothing 99% of lurcher owners would want in a running dgs make up and by your own admission the dog ill do very little. The rescue homes are full of lurchers and i fear this would just add to the numbers and misery......... The op also asked if the Presa would bring something new to the table, at best it will be a very poor second to the bull blood out there....... Without wishing to get into another argument, and i ask without any sarcasm at all, just curiosit
  20. You may well be too rough and quick with them especialy if you are frightened to be bitten..just take your time and be gentle with them any movement's you make do it nice and slow.. I was pretty terrified at first i must admit after some of the stories ive heard but i dont think i am now. only had them a week so ive just gotta be patient. The spit on the hand seemed to work with 1 of them. I think maybe i should interact with them 1 at a time cos together theyre a bit of a handful
  21. At what age would you say they're too old to train to stop? I think mine are 15 weeks Not 15 weeks anyway !!!!!!!!! give them 15 months maybe ! I dont know why i even put their age, i werent suggesting theyre too old already . just intersted how much time ive got. im sitting here covered in bite marks and drops of blood ive had to put them away agin. they climb all over me and bit any bit of skin they can find. Then f**k off before i can grab them
