  1. well where i am it is mostly small grassland so would make sense then wouldnt it?
  2. could try for mackerel, pouting, whiting, pollock, coalies
  3. yes they are, course they are ? theyre not fun shows anymore though are they; half the dogs at these shows dont work and are purely kept for showing and racing and to look at are greyhounds. is 15/16 greyhound really a lurcher ?, a collie in it 4 generations back - the collie is the dogs great, great graandparent ffs ?
  4. this is a few mates of mine up in scotland on a sea loch
  5. if i had to have a pure for deer; just taking roe id have a strong whippet dog but if roe and fallow id have a greyhound
  6. ok i should have said Most not all; those are exceptions not the rule of thumb and ill take your word for them because the ones ive known racing dogs at shows have all kept long dogs . i may be telling you something you know, doesnt mean everyone thats reading this post does. a lurcher and a longdog are worlds apart
  7. They seem to mainly get thornies, spurs and doggies. Seen some impressive pollock, coalies, cuckoo wrasse and obviously skate. Never fished it myself but several groups of lads I know go up there once or twice a year.
  8. Not being pedantic at all; it's not a lurcher, it's a completely different animal. If it was 1/4 bull or collie it would have been a different story. Just look at the 'professional' show racers and they all use long dogs not lurchers; they're a faster animal with less 'wastage'
  9. A long dog; there's nothing in there to slow it down, it's running dog to running dog. If it was 1/4 terrier or collie blood then its a different game
  10. If its 3/4 greyhound 1/4 deerhound then it's not a lurcher
  11. Breaks the councils rules so may have to go
  12. 10th of april is earlist ive seen them in south devon, have to look better

  15. Take it you've never lamped hilly ground where fog just rolls in. Couple years back; when was the last time you didn't summer hunt ?
  16. Bet the antlers fell off when you touched em ?
  17. Wow. I bet I've just never seen one, most I've had is 7 pointers.
  18. Like I said, I've seen em in December, been the same way since as long as I can remember
  19. Neither do I but it backed up what I had already said ? A whippet does beat a greyhound off the mark
  20. Yet the bds put it on their website as nov/Dec ?
  21. Well everyone knows your business because you have to tell the world ? Yes November/ December... seen it with my own eyes
  22. I don't doubt you would, you show yourself up often enough
