  5. The majority of dogs ive seen with this problem have been kept indoors and raised with children , most will grow out of it with time but some never will. When giving my dogs treats I allways throw them chicken wings ,biscuits etc so they get the hang of catching , the better they get the faster I throw , I sometimes think im a baseball pitcher when dishing out treats to the dogs , they don't miss many and I believe it helps with strike and coordination . This is the way ive allways done things and it has served me well until now , when I first had my own dogs I was told not to do it if I had y

Yes he did mate , he bred them with a close friend of mine known as dos or danny paske Well remembered taffey , not sure if you saw my little whirrier poppy when we was your way last but she is out of their stuff directly , she was out of the very last litter of whirriers that danny bred and will be 10 in January.
  9. Thanks for the reply lads , yes that's the man , peter "stag" carter was asking for him , they would write each other every Christmas for years but this year peter got no response and asked if I knew him or could find out for him either way if he is ok , Stag is judging for me this weekend and our Lurcher and longdog show at holbeach on sunday at the Anglia motel , Taff who is D H please mate ?
  10. He was an old time lurcher man and a friend asked me this evening if I had heard of him , unfortunately I haven't but someone on here probably will , he is / was from the south wales area ? He is an elderly fella and his friend has not had any contact with him since Christmas last year and has concerns about him as he didn't receive the usual annual Christmas card and letter this Christmas past and no phone number unfortunately ?
  11. Yes the show is definitely on fella , camping is available on site for I believe £7 for a tent and everyone is welcome , we have a disco on the Saturday evening on site and from all the response we have had its going to be a busy one ,
  12. Personally I think if you do this method every time the dog retrieves to you it will drop its catch eagerly waiting a treat therefore causing a new problem that is very hard to overcome , I would tell the lad as said before keep the dog with him as much as possible and when he lamps if the dog misses turn the lamp out straight away and run directly away from the dog and hide , have a quick look with the lamp every 30 seconds or so with the lamp to keep a bearing on the dog but stay hidden , most dogs do not like the feeling of being left behind and it will soon come looking for him. Do the sam
  13. Johnsons baby shamppo is fine and very gentle ,most supermarkets will keep a medicated shampoo for dogs my local morrisons has BOB MARTINS medicated dog shampoo for about £3 but don't wash too often I would say once a week until the coat and skin gets better , for cod liver oil go to your local horse feed supplies a litre tub will cost you around £6-7 my local equine supplies keeps the NAF brand cod liver oil premium blend which has a good source of vitamin A and D to support good skin condition and a naturally glossy coat , 1 tablespoon twice a week , Give a raw egg every other day. Im sure

  19. In answer to your original question I would say its less to do with time of year and more terriers and lurchers , many many people have had problems trying to keep the 2 living on the same yard space together and I know some will get on fine forever a good percentage end up fighting , a few years back I had both and would never do it again , they allways seem fine together until the minute they kick off again. Looks like your lottie was very lucky as it could have been very nasty. A old friend told me years ago if I wanted to keep lurchers and terriers together I should get well aquainted with
  20. The 140 is a great lamp for most jobs , I would personally get a VP model "variable power" and stick a 100w vertical filament osram bulb in it. The 4ah battery may be a little under power I would look for a 10ah for your job
  21. Fair enough your dogs are looking good on it, but why add more protein with meat, when you are feeding 28% protein. I received info on feeding gain from the rep, for my working whippet, who said to feed Gain 28% on its own. if adding raw meat which i was planning, to feed Gain 20% with a supplement. I'm sure you did mate...he's a rep...on commission maybe?????? Feed it on its own...feed more... shovel it in...don't add anything and I'll deliver another two bags next week... The way I have always done it is...feed the complete...whatever % and add meat or fish or whatever...so,
  22. I know of a couple of dogs that broke legs when only young pups and they have been fine since , fingers crossed for your mate.
