  1. Hi, Myself and a friend are heading over to the CLA game fair next weekend. Sailing over to liverpool on friday morning and staying until Tuesday morning which means we will have monday free. If anyone has a days shooting available around the south or south west of the country we would be keen to get out to kill the day. Could pay a modest fee or offer you top quality goose or diver duck decoying in n.ireland next season if you're willing to travel. We are both experienced shooters and have our own equipment if needed.
  2. Fabarm, Beretta, Benelli, Winchester, Stoeger. It surprises me how few people shoot fabarm autos and i don't really know why. There fantastic pieces of kit and for my money alot nicer handling gun then any of the others i've mentioned. However any of these should make good reliable guns in theory. No auto manufacturer makes truly jamm free guns. I know of more than a few beretta autos that jamm like f##k!! It's all down too what suits you.
  3. If you're not capable of shooting it with the first 7! Otherwise there a nose heavy b*****d of a yoke. Better sticking to a proper auto. At Least then you can use it for wildfowl and game legally.
  4. Seen it hundreds of times. When you shoot big bags of divers dogs tend to learn it pretty quickly.
  5. Yep it will feed ducks grand. Doesn't sink like wheat though if you're feeding rivers or strong current with it you have to soak it overnight. No use for pheasants as said above.

    10 Bore

Robert griffen advertised a browning 10 bore auto on facebook last week. Looked in real good condition too. Message direct shooting supplies and you should be able to get in touch with him if your interested. http://www.directshootingsupplies.co.uk/contact.html
  7. 9lb from a local river a couple of years ago.
  8. There's more problems with digging pits then solutions. Yes they hide you well but if you dig one in this country you will need swimming lessons, there cold and damp, and the worst of all you can't move them around the field to match where the geese have been feeding or pack them up and bring them to another field.
  9. Yep sounds like to much oil! Any grease on the internals might slow up the action. Clean it all down with cellulose thinners and apply abit of graphite powder to the moving parts. Great stuff. completely dry lubrication, nothing sticks to it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/C-K-Graphite-Powder-Lock-Lubricant-Cylinder-Car-Padlock-K30050-50g-/130891293035?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e79baa16b If you want to go down the road of a new auto or second hand you wont beat fabarm. 10. Should work grand early season or mixed into a spread of full bodys and shells to bulk your spread. If your working resident geese week in week out they will get wary of them. Keep your spread changing throughout the season and you should shoot geese from the first day to the last. We usually start the season with just a dozen of the worst looking decoys we have then step it up as they get warier to bigger spreads. Then for the last few weeks of the season we go back down to small numbers of top quality full bodys. Atb Mark
  11. Carbon steel is twice as easy to put an edge on. It's the blade Opinel made their name with! Wouldn't even consider a stainless one!
  12. Thats the job. When you can always use natural cover. Nets suck ass!!!
  13. Well bred and well trained springer??? What are they? Buy a real dog. One that wont shiver to death after the first water retrieve you give it in the month of October. One that isnt as mad as a hatter in a hedge running on 50 yards infront of you when it gets wind of a woodcock. As far as i'm concerned any rough shooting dog that you ever have to blow a whistle at isn't worth the cartridge it would take to shoot it! Birds have ears too! Buy a Lab and be done with it!!!
  14. Flambeau storm fronts or ghg Hot buys if you can get your hands on them. Both fairly good for the money. You should be able to pick them up at some of the game fairs in the summer and save yourself the postage. Ghg's would be my choice. Flambeaus are a bit shiney.
  15. .222 should definitely be enough to kill a crow!lol
  16. No experience of there autos but there over and unders are fantastic guns. As far as reliable semi autos are concerned you wont beat a fabarm for value. After that beretta, Beneli, Remington and winchester are all worth a look. Another gun worth considering is stoger if you can get your hands on one. There built by beneli on benelis old famous inertia action but at a fraction of the cost. Browning Maxus can give trouble with a piston spring breaking. I've heard some horror stories about them. A friend of mine has one and has shot it hard for the last 3 or 4 years and he's only chang
  17. When they cant get around to agreeing on a control plan for f***ing badgers the chances of getting one arranged for deer is extremely slim. After all its got nothing to do with how many deer die from malnutrition or destroy habitat of ground nesting birds, all that matters is how many tree huggers "like to watch them out of there window". The country is run by city folk who wouldn't no a deer if it kicked them in the face!
  18. x2. Theres people on here who have had good experiences with them though. Better to stick with a better quality 2nd hand auto if you want value. Fabarm for me every time. ATB Mark
  19. Aye they dont often call when your watching them but they'll be calling in the early mornings and thats when you'll find you catch most of your birds. Keep your trap moving is the biggest secret. It dosnt take much to 100 yards can often make the difference. If you dont catch for a day move your trap! Atb. read them out of it!

  22. Here's one I took yesterday of my English pointer bitch pup set on a snipe.
  23. 90 % of guns nowadays will be steel proofed. Look out for a mark called the fleur de lis.
  24. As title, anyone have any experience of them. Had muck boots and there really comfortable but both pairs have torn round the bend at my toes and there's no grip on slippery ground. Been looking at these. They look the business anyway. http://www.easy-wellies.co.uk/bogs-mens-blaze-1000-realtree-wellington-boot-p-900.html Thanks mark.
