  4. I use the large wood shavings from the horse place.easy to change to keep clean and a bale is pretty cheap.
  5. hi, does anyone need an extra beater or two with dogs for the odd saturday this season? i beat on a private shoot and have worked the grouse moors but im looking for a few extra days work for my dogs. not looking for any payment and have my own 4x4. syndicates around the durham/weardale/teesdale/northumberland would be ideal. thanks
  6. hi does anyone need an extra beater or two on the grouse moors north east area?. have spaniels and own transport. available on saturdays from 30th august. thanks

  10. interesting reading. i think i have met this guy. i bought a spaniel off him a few years back. the description and where he lives sounds the same.
  11. i bought two for my sprockers as they were being torn to bits on brambles. jack pyke and dokken. the dokken one is just neoprene and a really good fit but with very little extra protection on the chest area. the jack pyke one has lots of protection but looks like a flak jacket from an afgan battlefield and the plastic zip broke after 1 days beating. they do work and save a lot of damage to the dogs chest area, but you will get a lot of "helpful" advice from people about why they should not be used. my way of thinking was the dogs welfare comes first. hope this helps.
  12. has anyone used these on spaniels?. i am looking for a way to stop my two dogs being cut on their chests from brambles. any info or opinions would be great. thanks den
  13. bought a pair of seeland moor stable which lasted 7 months before the diamond grips on the soles started to come off.

  15. could anyone recommend a decent dog insurance scheme?. cheers
  16. my spaniel bitch has chipped a bone in her hock.i have had it xrayed and the vet put her on a 3 week course of anti inflammatorys hoping it will heal back on.i have stuck to the limited exercise regime but now it looks like she is limping due to the muscle in her leg not being strong enough.she has always been a very fit dog and her good leg muscle is solid while the bad leg feels very soft.i have to go back to the vets next week to see if an op is reccomended.while i have no problem in spending what it takes to get her sorted i have a feeling the vet may be racking up the bill by the constant
  17. thought this would be best in this area as i thought many people would have experience of this type of injury. had my sprocker bitch for an xray on her rear leg as it is swollen and she is limping on it. turns out there is a chipped bone on her hock. the vet has given me some anti inflammitary to take for 3 weeks as it is hoped the bonechip will heal back on. has anyone had the same issue?. is this a common injury with running dogs?. i think the next step if this is unsuccesfull is an op. thanks for any advice.
  18. does anyone have any recommendations for a decent waistcoat for walked up shooting?. i have looked at loads on the internet but cannot make my mind up. needs to be waterproof and have a game pocket in the back. thanks
  19. i have a baikal single and it is excellent.i use it with subsonic magnums near release pens and it does not seem to cause the birds any upset.another guy on the shoot has a 3 shot pump action and it is much louder as the moderator is much shorter.
  20. the cert would be easy to fake but i was given 2 bar code stickers for each cert that had the microchip id number on them.these had to go onto the cert to prove it was genuine.these were scanned as well as the microchip in the pup when it had its first jabs.
  21. when i had my litter of pups docked last year i had to have the dam micro chipped and registered at my home address. i also had to supply the forementioned letter of shooting permission and a copy of my shotgun cert.i took me quite a while to find a vet who would do the docking as most thought it was not a requirement but would be more than happy for me to pay to have a damaged tail amputated.
  22. i live around a mile from the shelter and have asked around people i know.hope they are rehomed soon.
