    I am looking for a working terrier preferably a bayer but it must be a stayer , I am down to one terrier as my old dog charlie took a big knock yesterday & due to his age I dont think there will be much left in the tank , & although I have two promising youngsters they still are'nt enough to comfortably see me through the season....... The money is waiting for the right dog........please pm with any details....

    You know my feelings on the situation M.r1 but I do agree that maybe things would have been different if everyone had got their shit together when it first started turning bad , ALOT of lads got into the "We'll be alright" mindset & then the shit hit the fan.....Im sure alot of lads , as I have said previously , are as genuine as the day is long but are just wary , mistrustful & very ,very disillusioned.... I take nothing away from the fact that England are doing what they need to win & doing it very well its just that there is more flair in my old man's trousers and their was more excitement in the Wales v Fiji game than in Englands last 2 world cups complete !!!!!     I agree with you as well p***y , A hard dog over time can learn to hold his quarry but take fairly minimal damage............The dog like I descibed though still insists in "fighting" his quarry as a pose to "working" it & as you know there is a big difference....

    Some idiots will probably jump on this statement but I have to be choosy where I use the dog , Which , as I have said , Is one of the reasons why I dont really class him as a great digging dog................He is a nice tool to have in the box though & I have had game with him that you simply would not dig with a bayer.......

    Fair point there Mr.1.............By your description of a hard dog I have a bitch here that fits that bill. She works quarry to an end & doesnt relent , Holding when needed but generally mixing and parrying , I compare her to another I have in the kennel who sometimes , due to his over aggresive approach can make an easy dig a f*****g hard one , Im sure you lads know what I mean , taking needless punishment , I tell anyone that although he has his uses he's not really that good a digging dog as a result on times.........Sure he gets the job done but the lay ups needed as a result are une

    If the dog is truely a "hard dog" I dont think you can ever turn them into a "Bayer" but a dog can certainly learn & apply his/her aggression in a way that leads to less punishment . I totally agree that there is always a place for a good "hard" dog & these terriers are the cornerstone of good breeding lines but unless you have a mixed kennell of different working types a hard dog can be pretty useless purely from the sense that he's laid up too much adequetly test as digging dog...... ......I speak from experience when I say that as much as I appreciate a hard terrier , on times they

    Fair enough MR.1.........Your passion & loyalty are admirable mate but surely you can see why lads are a bit shy these days when it comes to trusting ANYONE regarding the subject of the working terrier.......Its hard to have faith after yrs of knockback after knockback , some , myself included have conceded that it is a damn site easier now to just get on & work your dogs as quietly & sensibly as possible , As you have said its a shame EVERYONE didnt sing from the same hymnsheet when the writing first appeared on the wall but on the other side of the coin you can gaurentee that the
